THERE Aliii 51 AN V ACCILENTY AND F1UES I which occur from thcu -eof the ordinary sul phur and parlor matches. Either kind of these matches ignite readily upon any surface. To pre vent lire or accidents, which are lialile to occur from their careless use KPUKA1.U SMITH. St. John St., Philadelphia, invented a match known a "Pennsylvania Safety Match," which needs only oue trial for the mihlic to know- its importance. Its peculiarity is that it cannot be limited except on the special preparation furnished with each box. They do not emit auy disagreeable odor or make a.iy Btiirtlln;,', crackling sound on heinfr ignited. They contain neither su.phurnor phosphorus, neither are tiiey poisonous. Anothor important point is that they are perfectly safe in the hands of children : and the rats and mice carry ing them oil can do no damage. Mr. Smith also manufacturers a special rubber to be placed near match sales, thereby making these matches as con venient as those which ignite on anv surface. With these improvements they are very desirable for privaiu nweiiiiigs ;anu inisiness houses In wuith combustible matter is kept, in case one should be dropped on the floor there would be no danger of n ouriiin me carpet or igniting i oy any acciden tal means. All English Anvils, ufter a fane, become hollowing on the face by continued hammering in use, on account of the fibrous n.itiire of, the wrought iron causing i-lo "settle." under th-r ftecl. But the body of the Kairle Anvii beiing cf crys tallized iron, such settling cannot orcor; and tbe steel face therefore remain perle.c.'ly true. Also, it has the great advantage, that living of a more solid material, and, cotiseijuentiy, with less re honnd, the piece forsed receives the KULL effect 0 the hammer, instead of a part of it being wasted by the rebound, sis with a wrought iron Anvil. More work can therefore he done on this Anvil with a hamjner one-fifth lighter than required for a wrought iron Anvil which is more elastic.
