LIVER PILLS,
SOR TH8 CURB OP
Hepatitis or Liver Complaint,
DYSPEPSIA 'AND SICK HEADACHE.
Symptoms of a Diseased Liver.
PAIN in the right side, under the edge
of the ribs, increases on pressure :
sometimes the pain is in the leftside; the
patient is rarely able to lie on the left
side ; sometimes the pain is felt under
the shoulder-blade, and it frequently ex
tends to the top of the shoulder, and is
sometimes mistaken for a rheumatism in
the arm. The stomach is affected with
loss of appetite and sickness ; the bowels
i n general are costive,sometimes alterna
tive with lax ; the head is troubled with
pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy
sensation in the back part. There is
generally a considerable loss of memory ,
accompanied with a painful sensation of
navmg lelt undone something: which
ought to have been done. A slight, dry
cough is sometimes an attendant. The
patient complains of weariness and de
bility ; he is easily startled, his feet are
cold or burning, and he complains of a
prickly sensation of the skin; his spirits
are low ; and although he is satisfied that
exercise would be beneficial to him, yet
he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts
every remedy. Several of the above
symptoms attend the disease, but cases
have occurred where few of them existed,
yet examination ot tne ooay, alter aeatn,
has shown the liver to have been ex
tensively deranged.
AGUE AND FEVER.
Dr. C. MH-ane's Liver Pills, in
ca?es of Ague and Fever, when taken

HOW HATES COPIES JOHUSOHV
Onr, Fraudulent Administration Grasping-
after Popularity
From 2he Commonwealth.
Washington, jMaj 18, The fraudulent
president is almost aa 'restless as Grant
was, and it aeeuia likely tbat we are to have
another vagrant administration. Mr. fiyarts
keeps his house io New York, and Ire?
queqtly aay from his publio duties at
tending to private professions! practice.
Mr. Sehurz ia a constitutional wanderer,
and we shall soon see him swinging around
the circle, spouting from every available
platform about civil service reform, while
the interior department is being run by
Alonzo Bell, a prime favorite of Ohandler'
and a great hand at extorting political asj
eessments, whom Mr. Schurz has promoted
to be assistant secretary, od the ground, I
presume, that; the matt who is unfaithful
over a few things ought to be made lord
oyer many.
The fraudulent president himself im
proves every opportunity to exhibit , his
person to the people, and every movement
he makes is a mute appeal for au act of
popular amnesty. His journey to New
Vork and the postponement of the Cham
ber of Commerce dinner to suit his con
venience meant only an intense longing for
some sign of recognition of his title to the
stolen presidency by tbe general public.
He has already announced his intention of
making a progress through the southern
states at an early day, all of which reminds
us more or less ct the blind and frantic
efforts of Andy Johnson to reach the peo
ple over the heads of their representatives.
Grant wandered about from place to place
iu search ol idle pleasures. Hayes has
emereu upou a series, ot Derettnnations.
bearing the indelible brand of fraud on the
creeping skin of his forehead, and seekinc
vainly some condonatiou ol the enormous
crime of which that brand is the ineffacea
ble record.
Hayes's New York Visit a Failure.
From tie Pittsburgh Gazttte
Considerable curiosity was felt touching
the president's vieit to New York. Rumors
ot an ungracious reception were current.
but how f ar it would extend was uncertain.
Efforts were made to induce Tilden. Gov
Uobinson, and other Democratic celebrities
and dignitaries to attend and rive nolat
to the reception of the president at the
Chamberof Commerce dinner. None came.
Lx-Gov. Hoffman, who can hardlv be
called a decebt celebrity, in view of his
relations to the Tweed regime, snoke for
the state of New York. Of course the
dinner wa9 well attended, as to numbers
the Chamber ot Commerce annual dinners
always are but as an attempt at recon
ciliation or social fusion.it was a failure. It
was really indiscreet for the president to
go, unless clearly assured in advance that
bis reception would be cordial and brilliaut.
It gave his opponents an ODDortunitv to
make a point; and that it was successfully
done is undoubted. The sneechs. evpn
showed it. There was a solemn gioom.oyer
wnat ougut to nave Deen a convival scene,
that was manifest even in the speeches.
There was not the wit, brilliancy, and spark
ling cheer that usually attend after-dinner
speeches.
Hayes' Pardon of Major Reno A man
Without Hegaid for Woman's
Honor.
From the Raleigh Obterrer.
Mr. Hayes does not chew and he does
not driDk, and he does not smoke and he
docs not swear, but for a Dound of thesp
negative virtues we would not give an
ounce of that chiyalric feeling that regards
the honor of woman as above all price
and to be sullied only at the (.eril ol the
iite of the coward whose Ijiog lips utter
the s'ander. But Mr. Hayes does not ap
prove ot this school of morality. He
thinks a commanding officer who first at
tempts to seduce the wife of his absent
brother officer, and then privatelv and
officially seeks to destroy her reputation, is
sufficiently punished by a suspension of
rank an J pay for two years.
And what after the two years? Will
he then be sufficiently purged of his of
fence to return as an officer and a gentle
man to the society ot his brother officers
and their families? And yet after the
expiration of the two years how can they
refuse to receive him ? Verily, Mr. Hayes'
notions of things are curious.
