May or McCarthy offered a t-eriea of resolutions endorsing Hayes's policy. The Post (Democratic) says: "The resolutions were greeted with yells, cat calls, abuse of llayea, blackguardism and blasphemy. In fact, they raised old Cain generally, and the mob could only be pacified by being given a chance to vote them down, which they did with a hurrah. ' The Telegraph (Republican) of May 23, referring to the introduction of the resolu tions s-ays: "From this time;forward, for about ten minutes, the meeting resembled an assemblage of uncaged madmen more than a judicial convention or any other sort of convention of sane men, and all the loud rapping that Chairman Kirk could do with his heavy cane didn t have the slightest effect in repressing the demoniac spirit which exhibited itself." It also says, in a double-leaded editorial: The uproar and outrageons tumult which dis graced the judicial convention yesterdayafternoon will surprise no one who has careful, y watched the current of events during the paet week. Quietly, in the dark, but with desperate earnestness, the rule or tuin element wtiich has so often cisgraced the very name of Republicanism, has been at work endeavoring to capture the Convention, and the outburst of fury and wrath yesterday was the natural result of their reappoint ment. But two things are certain, vik. : the resolutions endorsing tlie administration of President Uayi sand his poli cy of peace and reform must be adopted, the sting ing insult of yesterday must be retracted, and who ever is nominated must show his skirls to be clear ol any alhliatiou with the disgraceful mob that make yesterday's Convention ,a second edition of the recuut Lafayette Hall riot. The following are the resolutions offered in this convention and voted down: Hesolvfd, That the Repnblican party of Alleghany country cordially reaflrm the principles sat forth ia the platform of the Republican National Convent ou at Cincinnati as the oiily trne and patriot'c basis upon which the nation can be governed, the people of the country as a whole lie broneht together in a spirit of unity, and their great industrial and com mercial interest be fostered and protected. Remlved, rhiit Kutherford B, Hayes, m his faithful, fearless, and patriotic course since his ele vation to power,iu carrying out the principles of the national platform, deserves, and should rective the hearty and constant support of the Republican par ty, and of all Ameiicau citizens who value peace,, order, and prosperity as the fruits of good Govern ment, and the legitimate result of a wise adminis tration of the powers confided to him, Jlesolvecl, That in his effort to reform the civil service by the employment of men of known integ rity and experience, and in refusing to attach him self or his administration to men noted more for their love of plunder than their abilities to serve their country, he has shown himself an able aud courageous defender of the rights of the people and his couri-e, in the judgment of this convention, has be.-n w ise , Arm. and true to their interests. Betolved, That his removal or the soldiers from the states of South Carolina and Louisiana ws a just measure toward the restoration of that feeling of unity which shon'd prevail everywhere throngh rut the country, and an expression of good will to ward the Konth that should not be disregarded, for the act was Intended as a measure of peace, and to give the loyal men of the south an opportunity to administer its own state goven.ment with equality and justice, not only to the white population, but to the colored people who, by reason of their Ions bondage and ignorance, should be objects of kind consideration, rather than victims of wrong aud oppression. 1!7 ' AD TEETISSKENTS D 1 1 1 1 fl Q ?H Octave, fine Rosewood (not used I iHllUd over 6 months), only $130, cost t630. 2SiZ3 Ranoa at wholesale Great bargains OnnitlC Nearly new, $20; 2 stops, $45; 5 nOAilO stops, $30; Bstope $55; 7 stops $60; gg39 stops, 05; 12 stops, $53 to $75. Most beautifully embellished with new and iiighly artistic engravings, its letter press a model of typographical richness, and the arrangement throughout simply superb, the Rock Mountain Tourist is worthy ot comparison with Picturesque America or 1 he Aldine. It ia written m gossipy, graphic style, covering details ot the tour through the garden of the South west (the Arkansas v alley, bouthem Kan sas), to the very heart of the Alps of America the liocky Mountains. Jaunts are made to all the famous resorts of Col orado, the remarkable ruins, the springs the mines, and, in short, to every point ot interest to tourist, agriculturalist, capitalist, miner, and invalid.
