A Voice Against Baby Shown.
From the Worcester Presaw , f
When we ay that the effect of bahr

wbieb needs - no encouragement, we have
aid all that the impartial observer can lay
without taking', np the dark side of this
question. Woen we turn to that side we
are appalled by the infinity of ugly reasons
wby tnese displays should be abolished, no
more to return until the fair fabric of our
advanced civilization shall have crumbled:
and the untutored'native of Maiden, sitting
apon the ruins of the nary-yard chimney,

Edward W. Fisher went to a oicnic in
Harrisburg. Fa., with a girl, and durintc
the day fell eraduallv but surety in love
with her. Io the evening he wished to call
on her, but she told him she had an engage
ment with another fellow, who was to snend
the evening with her. Fisher went under
her window and took laudanum, but the
dose was not sufficient to kill. Ihen be
hot himself, but the bullet missed his
heart making a wound from which he will
recover. He is dow being nursed by the
girl, and she may learn to love him, after
tbe story-book fashion, although as yet she
say 8" 'he's too big an idiot to live, but I
don't want him to die on my account."
A district of one hundred miles sauare
n Ohio, including the counties of Athens.
Perry, and Hocking, is the future coal field
of this nation. It is to be the "black coun
try" of the United States, as the noted dis
trict in Ptaffordshireis the "black countrv"
of Great Britain. This district has twen
ty-two feet of solid coal in five seams.
he great vein is in places twelve feet thick.
nd nowhere les than six feet Mincled
among tbe coal beds are ioexhanstib'e beds
of iron. Tbe thickest is five feet deep at
he outcrop; the thinnest, in places, sinks
to six inches. There is no regularity io tbe
thickness of either seam. The coal, on the
contrary, may be said to run from hill to
hill with perfect uniformity. Limestone
is also present in enormous quantities.
Astonishingr Success.
It is the duty of every person who has
used Bosches's German Strop to let its
wonderful qualities be known to their
friends in curing Consumption, severe
Coughs, Croup, Asthma, Pneumonia, and
in fact all throat and lung diseases. No
person can use it without imaiediate relief.
hrec doses will relieve anv case, and we
consider it the duty of all Druggists to
recommend it to the poor dying consump
tive, at least to try one bottle", as 40,000
dozen bottles were sold last year, and no
me case where it lailed was reported.
Such a -medicine as the German Strcp
cannot be too widely kuown. Ask vour
Druggist about it. Sample Bottles to try
