On Friday afternoon the dt mocrnts raised a hickory pole with a small Qg on top, and a large one swung across tb street with the the names of Cleveland and Stevenson on it. There was quite a number of the cit izens of the village and vicinity to help and witness the sctce. In the evening tbrre was a speech by M. J. McEniry to a large and respectable audience. Mr. McEniry spoke for over an hour, on the depot platform, as the evening was warm, which was preferable to going into the hall. He reviewed the national and state issues of the diy with plain state ments backed by proof. Referring at length to the condition of the laboring man and the many wrongs which the farmers had to bear, he was frequently applauded, and the people were well pleased with all the proceedings. The meeting adjourned with three rousing cheers for Cleveland and Stevenson. On Situnlav afternoon the republicans raised a walnut pole on the other side of the street. Several of the people of the village and vicinity were present at the raising. COUNTY It ('! dr. Transfers. 26 LeviS McCabe toKryaBlotmsma, lot 17, block 6, Fairmount add, Moline. $350.
