Trust Company to operate and do a
banking business in this city has been
acted upon’ favorably by State Com
missioner of Banking and Insurance
William E. Tuttle, Jr., he making his
decision to grant them * a charter
known this week.
The Ventnor Trust Company has
already leased temporary quarters ir
the new building at Victoria and At
lantic avenues and will open their in
stitution there as soon as the man;
details necessary to the opening of a
new bank afe completed.
It has an authorized capital of $100,
000 with a surplus of $40,000, and the
following are the officers:
President, George Gumpbert, Presi
dent of City Council: vice-president,
Joseph Jolly, Philadelphia brass man
ufacturer, and local cottager; secre
tary, Warner Lindsay, Jr., real estate;
solicitor, William H. Smathers.
Some of the directors- are: Johr
Gibson, B. Frank Young. Freeman
Parker, George T. Sale, A1 Marsden,
John MeCoach, retired hotel man;
James H. Perry, of the Philadelphia
Life Insurance Co. Both of the latter
are cottagers here.
This is the seventh Trust Company
for Absecon Island and as there are
six National Banks, makes the thir
teenth bank of the Island.
The unparalleled growth of Ventnor
City was one of the strong arguments
'given to the banking commissioner of
the state that influenced him in his
decision to grant a charter to another
banking institution.
