Tiny Wanderer
Three-year-old Jack Stevens, of
110 South Stratford Avenue,
i: caused uneasiness to his parents
: and the police for several hours
on Monday afternoon because of
his wanderlust proclivities. The
fact that he had been last seen
I?: on Bathing Beach No. 3 aroused
fears that the youngster might
have drowned. He was found
after several hours search at
Cambridge and Winchester Ave
nues. Several weeks ago Jack
had caused a scare by disappear
ing. In each case when found he
seemed supremely happy and not
in the least concerned over being
lost. Officer Rusk took charge of
the youngster and guided him to
his parents’ home.

Atlantic City Hospital, because of
its inadequate size and equipment
provides hospital accommodations
which are 64 per cent, below the
accepted minimum standard of
the provisions necessary for the
large permanent population the
hospital must serve. This does
not take into account the thou
sands of summer visitors.
The hospital officers recently
made a survey of hospital facili
ties throughout New Jersey. This
revealed that Atlantic City and
Yentnor with a combined popula
tion of 60,000 makes the smallest
provision of hospital facilities of
any other community comparable
in size and importance in the
State. The hospital appeal is
based upon the greater need for
enlarged accommodations, which
the committee points out, is ef
fectively demonstrated by the
following table showing the com
parative hospital accommodations
throughout the State,:

“This means that we should
have nearly 200 more beds to meet
the hospital needs of the people
who live lal the year round in
Atlantic City and Yentnor,”
Senator Wilson said. “As the
percentage of sickness is not so
great in the summer months as in
winter, the adde dbeds will also
provide for the emergency needs
of thousands of summer visitors,
which is necessary if we are to
maintain our position as ^the
greatest and safest of resorts.

pen a panegyric to the fisherman
which wolud bring lasting fame.
There have been great essays on
the fisherman, his philosophy and
his sport. But it seems to me
that we practical folk of the
coast must realize the tremend
ous value of the fishing enthusi
ast to our progress. And we are
wise to give him all the best of it
in every way and to meet his
fishing desires, no matter what
those desires may be.
Driven by Oscar Sayers a heavy
truck owned by J. H. Champion,
Ocean City contractor, on Mon

standard surmounted by a fire
alarm box at Ventnor and Vic

considerably damaged, while the
mechanism of the alarm box was
slightly thrown out of adjustment.
