Theatrically it was par ticularly effective. The exquisitely irresistible dance of Florence O’Denishawn, more youthfully poetically perfect than Pavlowa, formed an interlude to the huge, swaying costume in which Billie Burke surged onward to the force ful opening of the plot as she sang the song of the Cabaret girl and wooed on both lover and the other woman’s husband. It is a play of cross purposes, in which a wealthy society woman in her own right, attempts to domi nate her husband to the securing of a divorce by intriguing him with this Cabaret girl. The girl happens to be destitute but of a fine family and she proves in the succeeding acts more than a match for the self satisfaction of the wife. Billie Burke, as the girl, came back to the days of her youth as | she has not done in any recent play. She was once again the engenue who held her audience from the opening word to the last. This frail play with its many wonderful decorations was a dis tinct event for Miss Burke, which I am quite certain will en trance to writer again before the week is past. Alan Dinehart played the young man who .hovers between the wife —Let's Make Tuesday Night-!— Eastern League Basket Ball Night Time, 9 P. [ and his first love with a still finer finish to his style which is grow ing more and more to be less of his self and to be more of char acter portrayal. Julia Hoyt was singularly complete in her depic tion of the blase society woman with too many affectations for a harming imitator. No one surely could have more splendidly given the resurrection of the husband than did Frank Conroy and even Richie Ling kept up the splendid ensemble, though he was mostly in the background. And remember—“Rose Briar” should not be missed. W. S. HIGBEE & SON Electrical Appliances Radio Phones Lighting Fixtures 3310 ATLANTIC AVENUE Phone 4932-M Bell Phone 7694-J VENTNOR HARDWARE CO.
