Poulson to Lead
Anti-Saloon League
(Continued from Page 1)
with his political activities, Rev.
Poulson’s announcement to his
congregation last Sunday morn
ing came in the nature of a sur
prise to quite a number who had
been faithful in their attendance
at services and in financial sup
port.
In view of the large part Dr.
Poulson has played in the civic
life of both Ventnor and Atlan
tic City, his letter of resignation
is published in order that the
readers of the Ventnor News
may be informed as to his reasons
and future plans.
The letter follows:
“Since becoming your pastor
in May, 1921, I have had six calls
to other cities and states; only
one of these was reported to you.
At that time I asked that you de
cide the matter of my going be
cause of the church building en
terprise. You wanted me to re
main. Later, when there seemed
to be a secret effort' to disrupt our
relations, the issue was clearly
drawn by my letter that, unfor
tunately became public property,
and you again approved the work
I am doing along civic lines.
“However, since then, I have
been made to feel that my activi
ties have, in the minds of many,
interfered with financing our
building and current expense
budgets. As good work can not
be done by a divided church, and
believing that some one else can
now carry on the work better
than I, and having been asked to
engage in a work that will give
me a much larger field for what
I believe to be the real work of
the modern church, I hereby offer
my resignation, to take effect
September 30 next. I shall con
tinue the editorship of the Atlan
tic County Good Citizen until the
close of the year unless some one
else can be found to assume the
duties.
“M. S- POULSON."

Ventaor Vote Solid for Edge
(Continued from Page 1)
Many contended that they per
sonally admired Senator Edge,
and while they have taken little
or no interest in political mat
ters in the past, they asserted
they would openly espouse the
cause of their favorite and labor
for his election.
While membership in the Edge
Republican Club of Ventnor nat
urally is a public expression of
the attitude taken by those on
the club roster, it was discovered
that many ardent Edge support
ers have failed to affiliate because
of a disinclination to be identified
