Ninety-Nine Year Lease.
Ninety-nine year leases ar said to
have had their origin in England. In
Queen Elizabeth's time a law was
made prohibiting property owners
from renting their ground or buildings
for a longer period than 100 years,
and thereafter the P3 year lease be
came popular. At onn timo there wa3
a statute in the Illinois code by vhich
the length of a leasa was limited, but
this later was declared unconstitutional.
