CITY IN GALA ATTIRE POR RECEPIION OF PROMINENT VISITORS;
A PARTY OF BRITISH KNISHTS ATTEND .
Chicago, III, Aug. G. Every train arriving lu Chicago today has brought
its quota of Knights Templara and their ladies to the thirty-first trienni
al conclave to be held here during the next five days. In almost every llu
stance the visitors are met by some local . or suburban lodge and escorted
to their various headquarters. Many of the visiting bodies have brought
their own bands or drum corps with them, and the scenes at the railroad
stations are those of cayety and pleasing confusion.' -
-No city was ever better "derssed up" to receive a great company -of
guests than "is Chicago. Electricians, decorators,' florists and others have
been at work for nearly two weeks on the principal down town streets and
prominent buildings, and the result is the most lavish and beautiful diRr
play of flags, bunting, electric lights and. color imaginable. No one can
estimate the amount of bunting that has Been uEed one enthusiastic det-r
orating company put it at millions of yank :and the demand upon the'
electric company has been so great that they were compelled to refase far
ther orders. ; . " '
Importance is attached all over the world to this meeting of Knigh'ts
Templar. and, in fact, men will attend from almost every part of the globe.
A party of British knights have come especially to extend the greeting cf
the brothers across the water.. There are seven in the company, among
whom1 lis the Earl of Euston as the representative of the Duke of Con-naught-and

real beginning. The main service will be held at Orchestra Hall, when
Sir Knight George H. McAdani, of Madison, VÍ3., Will officiate. The sec
vice will be attended by the grand commandery of the United States. ,
Monday will be devoted chiefly to the reception of the visitors and
various features cf entertainment. Tuesday will be the day cf the grand
parade, when it 'is expected over 50,000 uniformed knights will be !n
line. The grand officers and distinguished guestsj.'ill review the procession
from stands erec ted in Grant-Park. The standsare the largest ever cou
Etructed in Chicago. v :' -
The exhibition drills are set for Wednesday and Thursday. Many hand
some and costly trophies will be contested for in these drills, which, it is
aimed, 'shall eclipse all former records. Sir Knight' Ge'orge M. Moulton, is
the chairman of the exhibition 'drill committee. The competition will take
place at the West side Baseball park, where accommodations will be pro
