Only 25c at Johnson's Pharmacy, Ring Him Up. Snow storms in Ohio, frost in Kansas and Maryland and the thermometer at 55 the 23 day of June, in North Caroli na, makes us all feel disposed to ring up the oldest inhabi tant and ask for facts in re gard to the past. Sent to Carthage. Wm. Roberson, colored, who was arrested last Saturday by deputy sheriff Tyson, charg ed with burning the build ings of W. F. Campbell and Alex Evans, was tried before Squire C. W. Shaw in the ev ening, the result being a com mittal to jail at Carthage for trial at the next court. It is thought that if Rober son is guilty he acted as the agent of. Campbell, and as Campbell is in Scotland coun ty he could not stand for tri al. If followed up this will be an interesting case as our Jimtown friends usually mix things pretty well when once they get started. Senator Morgan of Alabama. Senator Morgan has swallowed, like a man. one of the bitterest personal disappointments that ever came to an American states man. For nearly a quarter of a century the promotion of a canal by way of Nicaragua has been the main purpose of his life. The ambition nearest his heart was shattered by the vote on the Spooner substitute, says the New York Sun. Mr. Morgan says: I wanted if constructed by the Nic aragua route, because I think that route the better. If it could not COMPOSITION ON PANTS. Pants are made for men, and not for women. Women are made for men and not for pants. When a man pants for a woman and a woman pants for a man, they are a pair of pants. Such pants don't last. Pants are like molasses they are thinner In hot weather and thicker in cold. Men are often mistaken in pants, such mistakes are breeches of promise There has betn much discussien whether pants is singular or plural. Seems to us when men wear pants it is plural, and when they don't wear pants it is singular. Men go on a tear in their pants, and it is all right; when the pants get on a tear it is all wrong. If yu want to make pants last, makethe coat first. But really, it don't make any difference how long or short a time your pants last, or whether you wear any pants or not, jnst so you have all your job printing done at the Fbee Press Printing House. be by Nicaragua, however, I glad ly accept the Panama. The great consideration is a canal. The question of route is secondary. The people demand a canal. I think they would have preferred the Nicaragua route, but I feel sat isfied they will be glad to have the Panama. If Senator Spooner could ar range it to leave the appropriation bills in the hands of the President, or a commission, Congress could go gleet ully home to look after fences. FILTHY TEMPLES IN INDIA.
