FILE A NEW PETITION IN MOBLEY CASE The Hamtramck Democratic Club in a letter to the Hamtramck City Council last week asked that the Council re-open the case against Patrolman Clifton Mobley charged with using undue force in arrest ing a white youth some time ago. The council previously on reso lution of Councilman Fred B. Dib ble, and supported by Councilman Joseph TANARUS., Kuberacki had dismiss ed the charge on grounds that Mobley was being persecuted be cause of his color. The dismissal of the case was a decided victor yfor the Hamtramck Self-Respect League of which Le- Roy G. White is president. The League fought militantly in Mob ley’s defense and rebuked Council man Walter Kanar who sought Mobley’s ouster. Leonard H. Troutman, chairman of the committee on civic affairs of the league, told the council that if Mobley was fired it would be a serious blow to the forces of law. Councilman Kanar then fell into line, realizing that he was fight ing a losing battle. The Hamtramck Democratic Club in their letter charges that all of the witnesses did not know of the trial and were not present. The letter was referred to City Attor ney William Cohen for a legal o pinion; however, it is believed by many that no further action would be taken.
