The Spaulding Award is given to the Negro individual or company declared to have done the most for Negro business during the preceding year. Mr. Smith and Eddie Anderson, better known as “Roches ter,” are operating a parachute factory in San Diego, Calif., that is now putting out 1,000 parachutes per day. on a government contract. Miss Maxine Holtry, of New Orleans, who will return to the Art Acad emy of Cincinnati univer sity, to complete her four years of training in sclup* ture.
