As she did so. she found herself wishing re gretfully that she could as eas ily undo the mistakes and failures of past years. But quickly there came to her thought a statement she had read that day in Ecclesiastes '3:15,: "that which hath been is now: and that which is to be hath already been: and God requireth that which is past." She knew that in order to tul fill this divine requirement and surrender all regret for the past as well as fear for the future, she must trust God as infinite ever-present good, as the only power, the creator of all real being. With each returning year, higher joys, holier aims, a purer peace and diviner en ergy should freshen the fra grance of being." But if talking with our past hours brings re gret and condemnation, then we need to be reminded that "God raquirath that which la past." Such fear is being cast out in many instances by the spiritual un derstanding of God and His power which Christian Science imparts. This Science has healed many cases of so-called hereditary disease, thus refut ing the belief that sin cr sick ness can be passed on from one j generation to another. Th* be l>ef. arising from a misconc*p lion o' God and man is not true now and never was true, whatever rra erial evidences may be p esented to the con trary. The truth that God is the only creator and that He made man in His own image and likeness, as stated in the first chapter of the book of Genesis, is the foundation for all Christian Science healing. When we accept this truth con cerning man and recognise it as applicable here and now to •ach one of us, we shall in craasingly demonstrate that God. good, govtrns and controls His creation. There is no other Power to conflict with the di vine power. Thia healing truth, understood, is able to free us now. today, from any so-ealltd belief of heredity, whether it is manifested in disease, sin, or any othar weaknasa. The past, with its regrets and fears, disappears in the joy that romes from demonstrating God’s eternal, ever-present love. A hymn dear to all students of Christian Science describes the office of the healing Christ in these words (Chrwtian Science Hymnal, No. 412): H# comas to giva the* Joy for desolation.
