This world famous rifle shot who |
holds the championship record of I
100 pigeons in 100 consecutive shots ?
is living at Lincoln, 111. Recently interviewed,
he says:?*T have suffered
a long time with kidney and
bladder trouble and have used several
well known kidney medicines
all of which gave me no relief until
I started taking Foley's Kidney
Pills. Before I used Foley's Kidney
Pills I was subjected to severe backache
and pains in my kidneys with
suppression and oftentimes a cloudy
voiding. While upon arising in the
morning I would get dull headaches
Now I have taken three bottles of I
F'nlev's Kirtnev Pills and feel 100
per cent better. I am never bothered
with my kinneys or bladder and
once more feel like my own self. All
this I owe solety to Foley's Kidney
Pills and always recommend them
to my fellow sufferers."

THE HEART CHORDS,
It was ull wrong to have named
tho big, buflSbrickod apartment house
the Tleondoroga. With duo regard to
the traits of lta tenants, tty) grout
pile Bhould huvo boon called the Crescendo
or tho Nocturne or something
ubout Mozart and Meyerbeer. Foi
the chords always strummed and the
strings forever twanged in the artcrammed
Ticonderoga.
Consequently, when llerr Winkler
holt, with a delicious idea of moon
light upon a shimmering lake in his
head, sat before his grand piano to
preserve the golden idea as a master
piece for posterity, there wore the
toot and tinkle of notes from the
Moorish minaret above the tenth
floor to the lordly janitor's quarters
In tho basement.
The performers, however, were ar
tlsts and the medley did not disturb
llerr Otto Wlnklerhoff. instead, he
shut his black, snappy eyes, and roll
lng his bushy head upon his shoulders,
enticed from the grand piano a
thrice-beautiful sot of opening bars.
"llimtnel! but it iss good," sighed
the professor, in true art ecstacy
"Mlt him I will fAflnnoo ^
make."
Then he closed the groat, burning
eyes again, and, wagging the bushy
head, recommenced the divine work of
creation. An airy, seductive waltzstrain
came oneAwo-tliree from the
grand piano and the professor nearly
wobbled off the revolving stool in his
ccslaey. lie sighed and chuckled and
bumped his head against the nymphs
in piuk and gilt upon the panel, and
then
Prom the apartment opposite. a
powerful soprano pealed?a soprano
of wonderful range and purity, but
handled with the utmost contempt
for the black and white notes which
the professor adored, even to the
siAcy-iOurtu uogree.
"Ah ha he?h:i?hec?ah!" caroled
the superb voice In an ascending
scale of atrocious technique; and
Herr Wlnklerlioflf l'orgot the sheen
of moonbeams on the sapphire lake
and hanged his list down upon three
sharps with a discord that rattled
the picture of Chopin on the wall.
"Dundcr und blitzen!" he raged.
"Such a noislnes?such a singings?
oh, ach! My waltz beautiful 1 forget!"
"Ah?hec?ah?ha?ha?as?hahl"
sounded the magnificent soprano, in
a descending scale of errors.
Herr Wiuklerhoff brought both dellcute
hands down upon the keyboard,
producing u boom and blair like a
bar from the "Battle of Marengo,"
then he rushed into the hallway. The
door Btood ajar, disclosing a lady so
beautiful in her dreamy grace that
the professor forgot his frenzy and
fell down and worshiped.
Herr Winklcrhoff surrendered at
onco to Mmo. Kommler. And madame.
meeting the professor a good
half-wuy, insisted at times on singing
for him. At first Herr Winklerlioff
would throw up his slim white
hands, and, pleading sudden illnes?,
rush in artistic shudders from the 1
room; but, as his love grow beyond 1

still while all the notes were buttfh- i
orod. Herr Wiuklorhoft cherished t
this one thought: l
"When Etta lofes mo shust tho >
sante like I am her lofing, then sho
will sing right her notes." And the
professor worked night and day on 1
tin- beautiful heart song which should !
celebrate the coining of love. V
At last lie had the ballad?as 1;
dreamy and enticing as ever drifted L
out from tho Blue Danube?and on t
that day Herr Winklerhoff spoke his s
heart to Mine. Etta, spoke with tho
fervor of the love-ballad in his guttrial
tones and the soul of the artist
shining from his black eyes. And
Mine. Etta responded in tremulous !
tones so that Herr Winklerhoff. huv- ^
ing the quick artistic instinct, knew
ut once that the hour of love had
come.
"Etta" he cried, "to der piano
come quick?und sing mit passion!"
And, dragging Mine. Etta into the
studio, ho played?once that the dlvlne
chords might sink into the very
soul of madamo, and again that sho
might sing. And madamo lifted up
thut grand, encompassing soprano
and rendered every note so true and
so compelling that on the fourth
floor young Horgers dropprd his
flute and Liederkanip, the German
barber, ceased "The Spanish Cava
Her" on tho .big tuba to listen in enchantment.
\
"Aeh, lofe!" cried tho processor. 1
"lx)fe iss dor king of miracles!" c
The Mine. Etta, the new-born opera 1
star, sang the heart-ballad over tho e
second time, in low-toned sublimity s
for the ear of Herr Winklerlioff alono. v
