SWANWICK This company was incorporated under the laws of the state of New Jersey for the purpose of constructing a canal system by taking water from the Colorado River in San Diego County, California, and utilizing the same for irrigating a large tract of arid land in San Diego county — conveying the water to such land through Lower California, also for irrigating a large tract of land in Lower California. In order to place this extensive system on a mutual basis in conformity with the laws of California, this company endorsed the plan of furnishing water only to mutual water companies incorporated to furnish water to their stockholders only at cost. The main canal system was so far completed that it was able to furnish water to be delivered to lands south of Imperial by the 15th day of June, 1901. No water is furnished by this company for use in the United States except that supplied to Imperial water companies for the uni- form price of fifty cents per acre foot, under contract for perpetual delivery at that price. This company contracts with mutual water companies incorporated under the laws of the state of California to supply them with water perpet- ually at a uniform price of fifty cent* per acre foot, to be delivered at the International boundary line as it owns no property whatever outside the territorial limits of the Republic of Mexico. CARTER This is a mutual water company incorporated to furnish water to its stockholders only at cost. None others can get water from the company at any price or under any conditions. It has a contract with the Mexican corporation for a perpetual supply of water to be delivered at the international boundary line for which it pays fifty cents per acre foot or about two cents per inch for a twenty-four hours flow. This company owns its own distributing system of canals and ditches and has paid in full for the completion of the same, leaving in the treasury of the Company assets valued at $25,000 with no outstanding obligations. The company will manage its own affairs in its own way and distribute the water under its control among its stockholders only at cost price and expenses of distribution. The land to be irrigated by this company is located between New River on the west and Carter River on the east, extending from the boundary line to the center line of Townships 14 south, to the extent of 100,000 acres.
