Prosperous Times at Coachella. The new school house at Coachella was formally opened last week Mon day with interesting and patriotic.ser vices. At 2:30 in the afternoon, the citizens of Coachella and adjacent vicinity assembled in the new building and were met by Miss Hattie A. Ward, the principal, and pupils. Miss Ward, in a most gracetul manner spoke of the occasion of the day and invited the audience out on the campus to witness the raising of "Old Glory" in honor and celebration of the immortal Washington. The flag was hoisted by four of the pupils, while the school and audience sang "The Star Spangled Banner," led by Mr. Geo. Poore, one of the school trustees. As the flag floated proudly upon the desert breeze, Miss Ward led in the salute to the flag, using IMPERIAL PRESS the beautiful words of that matchless and patriotic woman, Mrs. Daniel Lathrop, who is the founder and pres ident-general of the society known as "The Children of the American Rev olution." This was followed by the singing of "Red, White and Blue," and f 'Hail Columbia." after which the assemblage repaired to the school building and held an informal recep tion. Miss Ward was the mistress of ceremonies and was well worthy of that position, she being the lineal de scendant of General Joseph Warren, the hero of Bunker Hill.
