Dr. Samuel Peiper, rabbi of Congre gation Monteflore, last evening was united in marriage to Miss Edith Blanch Lamb. Thai ceremony was performed in the Majestlo hotel in Philadelphia. Mrs. Peiper Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Koppel Lamb of the Quaker City. The bridal couple will return the latter part ot August to Las Vegas where they will reside, after a honeymoon trip in the east. Dr. Peiper has been a resident of Las Vegas for the past five months, having come to Las Vegas from his home in Philadelphia last February, He has been populaas rabbi of Tem ple Monteflore and has many friends here who extend their best wishes to the newly weds. A GOOD RECORD. F. M. Palmer, cashier in the local office of the Wells Fargo Express company, was today placed on the retired list of company employes. On Wednesday he will leave for his ranch in the Cedar Ridge district in ' Colo rado, where he will spend the sum mer. Mr. Palmer has been in the employ ot the Wells Fargo company for thirty years, having worked bis way up through every division of the (express service. He came to Las Vegas six years ago as agent, which position he held until last tall, at which time he was succeeded by Bert W. Kelly of Denver. Mr. Palmer's thirty years of service have been a credit to himself and the company. He has always been popular with the employes and patrons of the company j and has been respected by the offic ers for his ability. Mr. Palmer will be succeeded by C. S. Williams of Denver. Mr. Palmer will receive a pension from the express company. Richard H. Hanna, justice of the supreme court of New Mexico, ar rived this afternoon from his home in Santa Fe to attend the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Chapman Lodge A. F. & A. M.. He was accom panied to Las Vegas by Mrs. Hanna. Frank W. Eaviston, general sales agent of the Colorado Fuel and Iron company of Raton, came in last night from the. southern part of the state, continuing on to the Gate City this afternoon on train No. . 10. Next Door to POST OFFICE SEARCH FOR DISABLED VESSEL IS FRUITLESS CITY OF PANAMA IS ADRIFT SOMEWHERE ON THE PA CIFIC OCEAN. V. San Francisco, July 8. The steam er Rose City reached the latitude of the City of Panama at 3:45 o'clock this morning and found no trace ot the Pacific mail vessel. The Rose City was sent to the aid of the Citf of Fanama late last night when an aero gram was received at San. Pedro stat ing that thelatter vessel was drifting 250 miles to 'the southwest with Uis abled machinery. A wireless' message was received here from the Rose J'itv today. The wireless message said it was not yet daylight and it was hoped that the vessel would be sighted aftei sunrise. The sea was calm. Officials of the Pacific Mail Steam Bhip company expressed little con cern about the accident to the City o Panama although admitting the failure of the Rose City to find fcer. The Rose City headed for latitude 25 N., longitude 125 W., with orders to bring the City of Panama to San Francisco. A. J. Frey, assistant gen eral manager of the Pacific Mail company, said today the injury to th City of Panama was believed to be a comparatively trivial engine break down. The City of Panama left Saa Francisco July 5 in command of Cap tain J. W, Carlson. The following message was receiv ed from the Rose City at 10 o'clock this morning by a wlreMss station here: "Reached longitude 21.40 west, longitude 85.40 north at 6:53 o'clock this morning.
