Tuberculosis day was signally
honored in the Cimarron public
school, Tuesday and it will long
be remembered as one oi the most
important days in the school year.

pupils will be graded , in Santa Fe
by the Tuberculosis Society and
each grnde will be awarded either
gold, silver or bronze medals ac
cording to text oí the essavs. It
will be some time before the prizes
can be awarded owing to the large
number of manuscripts that must
be graded.

Land Office In
Moratorium; No
One To Pay Clerks
Things are at a standstill in the
Ft. Sumner land office on account
of the lack of a receiver, no ap
pointment having yet been made
to ñll the vacancy caused by the
death ol the former official. There
are about 300 state collections to
be mate and over a hundred home
stead tiling appicationa and sixty
final proof applications awaiting,
action. In the meantime a "mora
torium" exists in regard to the
wages of the employes of the office.
It is persistentiy rumored that
the grand jury of the Colfax coun
ty district court was dismissed on
Tuesday by Judge Leib. it being
stated that the court htld the jury
to br illegal on the grounds that it
was drawn without the approval of
the court. It is also stated that
the grand jury will be called upon
to be id session the first Monday
in January to resume its belated
court duties.
