The reports of correspondents of the weekly weather crops bulletin issued by the North Carolina ex periment station and State weather service, for the week ending Friday July 31st, 1891, show that unfa vorable conditions have generalty prevailed. The weather has con tinued cool, and cloudy with constant rains, interrupting farm work, arid giving grass another start. In the Western District, however, the weather ha3 been warmer and the raimaii not so . mm . m heavy, these conditions causing a considerable improvement of crops in that district. Cotton is grow ing too rankly, and not fruiting well. A continuation of rainy weather will cause shedding and mst. Some complaint of tobacco frenchins. Present condition of crops: Cotton, 76; corn, 84; tobacco, 87. The following total rainfalls for tfye week have been reported: Wei don, 1.03; Wilmington, 2.54; Gib son, 1.50; Smithfield, 3.20; Godwin, 2.75; Asheville, 1.00; Salisbury, 6.78; Oak Ridge, 1.61; Raleigh 1.90. (163 reports received represent ing 67 counties.) EASTERN DISTRICT. here has been too much rainy and cloudy weather during the past week, which combined with a defi ciency temperature has been unfa vorable for all crops. Cotton is not fruiting well, and if rainy weather continues is likely to shed its blooms. Grass is making headway again. Condition of cotton has decreased two per cent. Corn is about the same, while tobacco has slightly im proved. Present condition of crops: cotton 77; corn 82; tobacco 86; grass 89; peanuts 84; potatoes 86. (oO reports receiveu representing 22 counties.) CENTRAL DISTRICT. Decidedly unfavorable conditions have generally prevailed in this dis trict. Cloudy, cold and wet weather is causing cotton to grow, rankly, and it is not fruiting well, already slightly affected with rust, and blooms dropping in a few places. Corn and tobacco will suffer if the r?.ins continue. Farm work is at a stand still and crops are becoming grassy. A hail storm destroyed crops in Stokes county to an esti mated value of forty thousand dol lars. Condition of crops: Cotton 75; corh'84; tobacco 85. (Fifty-three reports received rep resenting twenty-two counties.) - WESTERN DISTRICT. The weather in this district has generally been quite favorable in many places. " The rain-tall, though excessive in some places, has not been so continuous as in other por tions of the State. Warmer weath er and sunshine prevailed. Crops consequently show considerable im provement as compared with last week. Present condition of crops : Cotton, 76 ; corn, 87 ; tobacco, 90. rwr a lhis is an improvement ot 4 per cent, for cotton, and 3 per cent, for tobacco. Cotton, though late is quite large and able to bear a fair crops. (60 reports received representing 23 counties. EXPLANATION. Uonuition ot crops, stated on basis of 100. f&Best condition is 100. The county of Cleveland offers for sale its entire issue of "Jail Bonds !" This issue amounts to $10,000 worth of bonds and consists of one hundred bonds of the denomination of $100 each. These bonds are issued by virtue of an act or tne General Assembly of North Carolina, ratified on March 3, 1891.
