Among the delegates were Dr. N. O. Greer, J. L. Haybaiger, J. M. Stewart. Fred Cox Dr. Harrell, Prof. Snyder, Prof. Clou denen. The successful candidate for the high office was Dr. J. A. Uutledge of Elgin, who received 1 17 votes; tin next candidate received 113 and Dr. Harrell received something over 10 An earnest fight was made for Dr. Harrell, but the Oairoites saw very soon that it was hopeless. The Illinois farmers desirous of se curing lietter prices fur their products by cutting out the profit of the mid- llemen are planning to ileal illreit with the cons"iner ami with organized forces, bid fair to realize their hone. In considering the middleman, the farmers state that he receives a larger profit in his business in pro portion to his effort than the farmer or workman bi factories and t'ds thev regard as unfair. They propose, to give the middleman a chance to change his occupation which doubt ss will not be considered a popular move by the latter.
