Sivu 2 Tummanpunainen Ruusu Rouvan sydän ei heltynyt, hän meni lähemmäksi ja katsoi, mitä Inkeri teki. Onko tuo jotain pientä leivosta ollakseen ?... Sehän haisee siirapille ja on kovin kirjavaa ... Anni ottaa tä män moskan ja vie sen Hy värisen vaimolle, hän saa paistaa sen lapsilleen. Jos Inkeri-rouvaa haluttaa aut taa Lottenia, antakaa hänen valmistaa hienointa lajia ma rengeja. Inkerille nousi karvas pala kurkkuun ja vesihelmi pyöri silmänurkissa. Hänen hyvät mandelipiparnettinsa, joista Arvo piti kaikista eniten, vietiin Hyväriseen. Sinne, jossa vaimo ei muuta tehnyt kuin kahvia keitti ja möi viinaa kaikessa salaisuudessa Hallovan työmiehille. Ja mitä se seos oli tullut maksamaan. JVlunankeltuaisia kymmenen kappaletta, soke ria, voita, parasta siirappia, mandeleita ja monia muita mausteita. Hän aikoi huutaa: Älkää viekö sitä sinne viinapesään, he eivät ymmär rä sen arvoa, eivätkä sitä hienoa makua!... Se seos maksaa yli kymmenen mark kaa ja Arvo saa hikoilla ko ko päivän, eikä sittenkään tulot menoille riitä!... Sta vangerien ylhäinen suku ei pysy kauan arvossa, kun sen ainoa perillinen joutuu puu tetta kärsimään! Mutta tätä hän ei uskal tanut huutaa. Hänen täytyi niellä karvaat kyyneleet, ja katsoa, miten vanha rouva hävitti Hallovan omaisuutta. Vanha rouva lähti keitti-' östä ja Inkeri kysyi: Hyvä Lotten, kuinka iso aloite laitetaan niitä ma-| rengeja. Montako munaa ar velette tarvittavan? Ainakin kolme-, neljä kymmentä. Vähemmät eivät riitä sadalle vieraalle, lu kuunottamatta omaa väkeä. Missä ovat munat?... Hyvä Lotten, tänä aamuna toin ainakin viisikymmentä munaa! Eilen toin kolme kymmentä ja sen edellisenä päivänä neljäkymmentä ... Kahdessa korissa oli ainakin sata munaa... Nyt en löy tänyt sieltä kuin kaksikym mentä !... Hyvä rouva, Hallovassa ei ole koskaan otettu selvää siitä, minne joku parikym mentä munaa joutuu. Tuom moinen uteleminen on hal paa poroparvarillisuutta, vas tasi Lotten halveksivasti ja meni omille töilleen. Inkeri punastui. Minutes of the annual meeting and election of the Erwin Township School District held June 9, 1947. The Election Board consisted of the following: Chairman: Elmer Mickelson Inspectors: Arthur Nylund Verner Vanhala Clerks: Mrs. Lillian Hage Mrs Olga Nelson Gatekeepers: Matt Puumala Domenic Benetti Between the hours of 3 and 5 P.M. the meeting of the District for the purpose of transacting any business that might legally be presented was called to order by the chairman of the Election Board. It was moved by John K. Jackson, supported by Ver ner Vanhala, that Elmer Mickelson be appointed chairman of the annual meeting. Motion carried. It was moved by Arvo Neimi, supported by HjaLmer Carlson, that Mrs. William Nelson be appointed as Secre tary of the annual meeting. Motion carried. It was moved by Hjalmer Carlson, supported by Mrs. Selma Jackson, that the minutes of the annual meeting of the District, June 10, 1946, be approved as read. Motion carried. It was moved by Arvo Niemi, supported by Andrew Hendrickson, that the District continue to sponsor the hot lunch project during the coming year. The motion was unanimously carried. It was moved by Arvo Niemi, supported by Mrs. El mer Mickelson, that the District continue to transport the ninth grade students to the Ironwood City High School during the ensuing year. Motion unanimously carried. It was moved by Arvo Niemi, supported by Arthur Nylund, that the District purchase. approximately two acres of land, adjoining the present school site, from Mr. Arvid Toijala for the sum of $250. Motion unanimously carried. It was moved by Andrew Hendrickson, supported by John K. Jackson, that a letter be sent to the families of the District advising them of the action taken at the an nual meeting with respect to the ninth grade. Motion carried. It was moved by Hjalmer Carlson, supported by An drew Hendrickson, that $2,000 be raised for the Building and Site Fund during the coming year. Motion carried. The annual report and financial statement of the Dis trict were presented by the Secretary. Copies of the com pletely itemized statement of the receipts and expendi tures of the District for the year ending June 30, 1947, were jnade available in printed booklet form for each and every elector in the District desiring a copy. It was moved by Hjalmer Carlson, supported by Ver ner Vanhala, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion car ried. The polls were declared closed at 6 o’clock P. M., and the inspectors proceeded to count the ballots of the election, the following being the results: For Trustee for the term of three years, John K. Jackson received 87 votes. For Trustee for the term of three years, Hjalmer Carlson received 64 votes. For Trustee for the term of three years, Andrew Hendrickson received 57 votes. John K.
