Our state seems to be in excellent condi tion on everything except wheat and that is only 4 per cent below average. Wheat I STATE Condition April 1 this year 90 per cent of normal; six year aver age of condition figures for April 1, 94 per cent. UNITED STATES Condition April 1, this year, 78.3 per cent; ten-year average April 1, condition, 87.3 per cent. Hogs STATE Losses from disease past year, 1.3 per cent; ten year average, 2.1 per cent. Caldwell, Manager Clayton Cash Store The latest misrepresentation of this character now being presented to the people of the country in the columns of the daily press is an alleged new system of long-range weather fore casting said to be based on the rifts and spottedness of the sun and its shafts of solar rediation. When the disk of the sun is minutely examined with powerful telescopes, or when photographed with the aid of the modern spectroliograph, the sur face presents a characteristic spotted appearance, which undergoes slight changes from day to ay, and greater changes with longer intervals of time, depending on the well known rotation of the sun upon its axis and the per iodic recurrence of the sunspot max ima and minima. These and certain wen-Known related phenomena are represented to be the basis of the so called discovery. During the past several years the weather bureau has received, in the form of letters, circulars, diagrams, and blue prints, full specifications concerning all essential details of this alleged new system of forecasting. The so-called discovery is fully known to the weather bureau and has received fair and impartial study nnd examina tion by its scientific staff.
