Socorro, who futhcrmore alleges that
these items are tale. We do not in
tend to make this a persona! journal

This editor, who has hung out bin

upon to clip from a few of the ternto
rial papers, and distort items to the

yucrque Journal of the 20th inst
made complaint as follows: "The So
corro Sun never let an opportunity
slip to get in a fling at the business
men nf Albuaueraue." In our issue
of Tuesday, ,e took occasion to re
produce some of the dirty drives of
the Socorro paper against Las Vegas
which were bui't up on items publish
ed in the papers of this city. I or in
stance, we have had considerable to
sav of the operations of "the Kid's
baud, but we have never said it has
rendered the Las - Vegas route to
the White Oaks dangerous, neither do
we remember to have seen anything
in the Optic to lead auyoue to believe
that life was more endangered by
traveling to the White Oak? from Ve
gas, than it would be by going by
way of Socorro. But it takes very
little to co. iTince one that it was out
ot general cusscdness that items that
have appeared in our city papers weie
distorted. The shears and condenser
of the San are certaiuly very blunt, if
they are not, as we believe they are
wholly unfit lor reliable work
Are the businessmen of Las Vegas
inclined to help support a paper that
is guilty of running down our city as
the Sun is endeavoring to do ? The
next time Coukliu, the editor, comes
i o Las Vegas to solicit patronage for
Ids pnper, he should be given 10 un
derstand that no man who goes so far
out of his wav as to libel the town
should be tolerated.
The last issue of the Sun is in some
departments naught but a piece of
patch work and the weaving in is
horribly dono.

but when he hikes anything from this
journal for his patchwork quilt, he
will pirate pay a little attention to
truth. This is a new -paper, and we
