No. , LOCAL NEWS. Mrs. J. F. Hedfjpeth was sick yesterday. The Electric Light Co. lias put ' m 50 new lights this week. JefT Wood, the lumberman of Logan, was a visitor last Saturday. The Telephone Exchange has sixty tele phones in operation now, Street's horse market has b e e n good since ho advertised a sale day for each month. V. F. Buchanan will attend the Hank ers' first annual convention at Alhuqucr (pie next week, The Tucumcari Tnwnsite and Invest ment Company has sold several town lots to Santa Kosa people this week. Capt. Culberson and family came Thursday to meet some of their relatives who arrived from Iowa to visit them. F. D. McCune, traveling for the F. C A. Cigar, made by the Winter Cigar Co., of Denver, was a business visitor Friday TheM. B. Goldenberg Co. is making improvements in the store this week. M H. Koch is building a book keeper's office in the rear of the store. The local K. of P. Lodge is at work pre paring for the anniversary celebration which will occur on the 10th inst. The full progarm will be published in this pape next week. W. A. Essary and his niece, Miss Kosa Thrash, camein from the ranch yesterday and went to Logan to attend a ball given by Mr. Wayne, who has just finished a hotel at that place. President B. F. Yoakum, third vice- president Maher and Mr. Parker, all offi cials of the Kock Island Kailway, passed through here en route to Mexico for a months vacation. Attorney W. C. Keid, of Woswell, it is believed, will succeed Hon, Ceo. W. Pritchard as Attorney General of the Ter ritory. Mr. Keid is a lawyer of consider able ability and a warm fiiend of Gover nor Hagerman. There was a freight wreck in tho yards here Thursday at eleven o'clock in which four cars were pretty badly demolished Tho cars were empty or about so and there was little loss entailed outside of the cars themselves. The cause was, well, they were just jammed together and piled up in a bean. There was no officers killed or privates in the melee.
