i NATBONAL IRRIGA TION CONGRESS Will Put New Mexico and Her Wonderful Resources Before the Eyes of the Nation. QUAY COUNTY MUST BE REPRESENTED The Sixteuth National Irrigation congress to be held at Albuquer que this fall will ho a great Na tional convention, in the proceed ings of which more distinguished men will participate than in any session of the congress heretofore held. It will be an event of im portance to the whole country, and will put New Mexico and her wonderful resources before the eyes of the Nation, and present to the Nation the magnificent oppor tunities of the Land of Sunshine as never before. The Interstate Industrial Expo sition, held simultaneously with the congress and continuing until the ioth of October, has been or ganized for the bringing together of a magnificent collection of the products of irrigated lands and the forests of the country, as well as the products ol the semi-arid sections under scientific dry farm ing. The purpose is to present an object lesson of the value and importance to national prosperity and progress, of the streams, for ests, and semi-arid lands ol the west. Quay co.unty must be well rep resented by the best ol her pro ducts. The past three ve.irs has demonstrated what the luiure of our farms is to be a mete pro phecy of a land of milk and honey. The discovery of the fertality and productiveness of these lands has attracted thousands to this coun try and has demonstrated that if the ueoole of the east realize the opportunities of New Mexico, they are willing to bring their money out here to hslp to develop the country. This is our greatest need men who ha,ve the money to develop the lands. This is our opportunity to present to the nation what we have in Quay county. This needs no argument. Our farmers best realize what it will mean to the development ol the country to attract wealth. The Business Men's League is taking hold of the ptoposition and with the aid ol the larmers, will place (Juay county where she be longs among the exhibitors at the congress. Now is the time to prepare for the exhibit. Prepare for the ex hibits at the planting time and give the crop the best care, not only the exhibit but the entire crop, that the exhibit may be truly representa tive. Thousands of dollars of valuable prizes for exhibits have been offered, many of them for products of dry farming. Donald Stewart of this city has been elected as a member of the Hoard of Control and he is very anxious that we have a creditable display of our products. He has laid the matter before the Business Men's League urging them to take care of it, and the matter was re ferred to the advertising commit tee. The News is pleased to see the farmers taking such an interest in securing good seed stuff. That is certainly the correct method and goes far toward raising a bumper crop. The farmer no longer de pends wholly on the elements and his muscle but is nowad lys usirg his brains as well. McCARTY'S Academy o( the Actor AT W A Ml UN'S II ALL HOW TO BREATHE.
