BIG CAME OF BASEBALL IS
SCHEDULED FOR NEXT FRIDAY
AT EBBETS' PARK LINE-UP TO
BE LATER ANNOUNCED.
There is to be a game of baseball
at Ebbets' park next Friday afternoon
between the Brooklyn Superbas and
a picked team from the combined
clubs of Hotel Clarendon and the Or
niond which Is sure to furnish a lot
of fun for local fans, regardless of the
result.
Both of the big hotels have a num
ber of professional and semi-professional
players In their line-up this sea
son, who have made their mark in the
baseball world some time since, but
owing to an unusual amount of prac
tice, they are all In the pink of condi
tion and should give an excellent ac
count of themselves In next Friday's
game.
At the present time the Brooklyn
Superbas are undergoing a stiff work
out every day under the watchful eye
of Manager Robinson, and if weather
conditions are right on the day of the
match, hundreds of fans from all over
this section w ill be on band to "give
them the once over,'" and incidentally
to size up their chances of being pen-j
ant winners this fall.
William Klem, official umpire of
the National league, will umpire Fri
days game, which adds another fea
m.e l tl.c bis cvr A line-up of
both teams will appear in an early
issue of the Daily News. Street car
service will be operated to and from
the grounds on next Friday afternoon.

INTERCOLLEGIATE SWIM
IN YALE UNIVERSITY
NEW HAVEN, Conn., March 6.
The intercollegiate championship will
be held here this evening. The breast
and back stroke swims have been sub
stituted for the plunge for distance
event. Considerable opposition ha
arisen In the last few years to the
plunge event owing to the lack of In
terest In the competition, and also
to the Ions; time necessary to run off
the event
TIDAL WAVE WOULD NOT
INTERFERE WITH PRACTICE
If persistent practice will have any
thing to do with winning this year's
national baseball pennant, the Brook
lyn boys can start in right now and
buy real estate in Daytona with a
share of their percentage earnings.
Rain doesn't seem to interfere in the
least with Manager Robinson's plans
to keep the players with their noses
continually on the grindstone, and It
Is doubtful if there is anything short
of a tidal wave that would cause him
to let up. Even if the latter condition
existed, he would, In all probability,
erect an ark provided with accommo
dations for practice of the game.
Climatic conditions here are work
ing wonders with the boys as regards
their general health and appetites.
Every player Is enjoying perfect
health and In many cases are putting
on extra weight. All of the hotels at
which the players are quartered, are
showing the boys special attention so
that when they leave here In April
the proprietors will have no regrets
for not having done all In their power
to help the boys to attain success.
