SUCCOTASH AS IT SHOULD DE.
Proper Admixture of the Lima Deans
Allow one-third tho. quantity of lima
beans that you do of corn. Put tho
corn in a colander and let a littlo hot
wnter run over it for a moment, then
cut tho corn from tho cob, scraping
out all tho Juico possible, but tnklng
caro not to got any of tho cob. Shell
tho beans and fill a sterilized can with
tho corn and beans, working down as
compactly as possible until tho Jar is
filled to within an Inch of tho top. For
every quart Jar dissolve a teaspoonful
of salt In three-quarters of a pint of
lukewarm water, and pour over tho
vegetables. Adjust tho lid of tho
Jar (without tho rubber) part way,
and sot In a boiler of lukewarm water,
not allowing tho Jars to touch each
other or the bottom of tho boiler. Uso
a rack for tho latter and colls of ropo
to prevent tho Jars touching. Have
tho wnter in tho boiler deep enough
to cover the Jars three-quarters of
their height. Put on tho boiler lid
nnd steam threo hours. Take out tho
cans, work down tho vegetables and
fill up with moro boiling salt water,
then slowly scrow on tho lid. Return
to the boiler, turn in enough moro hot
water to completely cover tho Jars and
steam another hour. Tako out, scrow
tighter, If possible, nnd when cool put
in a dark place.
Radishes fried with bpcfstcak havo
a flavor not unlike mushrooms. They
should be sliced.
Uurnlng oil is spread by water. To
extinguish It throw down Hour, sand or

Ten ounces of almonds chopped fine,
12 eggs, thrco-quarters of a pound of
sugar, 4M; ounces of citron, cut fine,

ryo bread, ono whole lemon, grated,
ono teaspoon of ground cloves, one
wlno glass of red wine. Dent the Bugar
and yolKs of eggs one-half hour. Add
lemon and almonds, then citron .and
cloves and ryo bread, which has been
moistened with the wlno, and at last
the whites of egg well beaten. This
makes two loaf cakc3, Is delicious nnd
Care of Waxed Floors.
Never uso soap and water on a
waxed floor. Waxed floors should bo
wiped with a perfectly dry cloth and
more wax rubbed Into them with a
woolen cloth or the polishing brushes
that como for that purpose. But do not
