BRAVE AND GALLANT M OF CLINTON
MARCHED 10 FRONT AT COUNTRY'S GALL
Any attempt to publish a list of|
nil the men of Clinton and vicinity
who fought under the Stars and Cars
would bo Impracticable. In the words
of a well-informed Clinton man. son
of a distinguished veteran, "Clinton
and this section of Laurens county
?nfisted about every man and hoy able]
to carry arms; as brave and gallant
an array of men as ever marched."
Mr. it. '/.. Wright secretary of Camp
7i. S Owens, kindly allowed this writ
er to make a copy of an "Honor Roll
of Confederate Veterans Knltsting from
Clinton auil Vicinity." contained in
the records of Campt R, S. Owens. No.
032, I'. C. V. This rod contains the
names of men now dead who enlisted j
at the beginning of the war and serv
ed until their deaths or the end of \
the war. It. Is not official but repre
sents the voluntary labor of a few
men, the late Mr. .las. V. Dillard being
a leader in collecting the data. It is
hardly possible that the list Is com
plete or entirely free from errors,
and those who can supply omissions
.or remedy oversights will confer a
favor on all students of local history
