Mr. and Mrs. John M. Cannon nr

present they will make their home
with Mrs. Mary E. Austin.
Mrs. J. J. Pluss and Miss Cralg are
visiting friends in Richmond and Ra
leigh. While away they will attend
the Virginia and North Carolina Fairs.
Prof. Chas. Brooks was a visitor
here during the latter part of last
week and went with Mr. John Brooks
to Ekom Sunday to spend the day with
their mother.
The many friends of Mr. M. H. Fow
ler were glad to see him riding on the
.streets last.Friday. It Is the earnest
hope of a host of friends that he will
soon he able to again return to his bus
iness.
Capt. J. R. Minter has returned to
Laurons after visiting his son at Se
rial ia for several days. Capt. Minter
also paid a short visit to Union while
away and there met a large number of
bis old friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thames and
two little boys, of Birmingham, Ala.,
were the guests for a short while last
week of Miss Fannie Mae Thames.
The youngsters, Robert and John will
remain here with Miss Thames for
about two weeks.

Branilett-Babb.
A wedding which is of great interest
to wide circles of friends here and
elsewhere in this section of the state
will take place this afternoon at 4:30
o'clock in the B'irst Baptist church,
when Miss Nanuio Downs Bramlett
will become the wife of Mr. Erskine
Todd Babh. The church has been
beautifully decorated for the occasion
and the wedding promises to be one
of the most beautiful seen here in a
long time. Miss Bramltt is a young
iady of many personal charms and is
a most accomplished young woman.
Mr. Babb is a member of the firm of
Mahaffey & Babb and is one of the
city's rising young business men. The
happy good wishes of a large circle
of friends go with the happy young
couple upon life's journey.

Invitations have been issued to the
wedding, on the 25th of this month,
of Miss Niza Sullivan and Mr. William
Alvln McKelvey, the ceremony to take
place at the home of Miss Sullivan's
father at Tumbling Shoals. Miss Sul
livan Is the daughter of Mr. W. D. Sul
livan, of Tumbling Shoals, and is a]
young lady of many accomplishments.
Mr. McKelvey is a member of a well
known Greenville county family and
a prosperous planter. Both of the
young people are very popular where
ever they are known.

Millichnmp-Young.
Invitations have been received in
this county to the marriage of Miss
Kate MelltChamp, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Pierre Cuttino Melllchamp, to
Mr. Marion Julian Young, the cere
mony to take place at the A. It. P
church of Winnsboro. Mr. Young is
now living on James, Island, near)
Charleston, but will be remembered
by a large circle of friends who were
raised up with him In this county.
He is a son of Mr. R. H. Young, of!
Lisbon, and a member of the well
known Laurens county family of that
name. Miss Mellichamp Is a member
of one of the oldest and most honored
families of the state.
Mrs. Austin Owings Dead.
A very sad death occurred in the
Rabun Creek section Saturday when
Mrs. Austin Owings died at her home
aller an illness of several months.
She was buried Sunday in the Rabun
Creek cemetery, Rev. E. Y. Babb con
ducting the services. A large number
of sorrowing friends and relatives fol
lowed the body to its last resting place
Mrs. Owings was just in the prlnv
of life and leaves a husband and sev
eral children to mourn her loss. .

Ella W. Shell.
These are therefore, to cite and ad
monish all and- singular the kindred
and creditors of the said Ella W. Shell
deceased, that they be and appear be
fore me, In the court of probate, to
be held at Laurens C. H. 8. C. on the
25th day of October, 1911 next, after
publication hereof, at 11 o'clock In the
forenoon, to show cause, If any they
