means to look into the enlargement of
the income of our Congregation as
much money will be needed in the
near future Also the same commit
tee should look after our Shomas and
see if he can get along with the pres
ent salary we are paying him The
same committee should also try and
get more members into our Congrega
tion if necessary to try and bring all
Jews together so we will have more
funds to work on

of all the members

Rabbi H S Holding of Southamp
ton England has been elected rabbi
of the ShaarethIsrael Synagogue in
Dallas Texas vice Rabbi S Marglis
who resigned some weeks ago Rabbi
Holding arrived in Dallas last week
and began his new duties immediately
The new rabbi is said to be well
equipped to take charge of the Dallas
synagogue he having served ten years
as teacher and Hazan in one of the
largest synagogues in Southampton
and previous to that served a three
year term under Chief Rabbi Adler
of London

The annual meeting of Congregation
Beth lsreal took place Sunday after
noon at the Temple H J Dannen
baum presided J Alltmont secre
tary submitted a lengthy report
Chairmen of other committees also
reported Mr Meyer Wagner of the
Sunday schoo lcommittee introduced
a resolution to have the classes meet
on the Sabbath instead of Sunday as
heretofore thereby allowing the chil
dren Sunday for absolute freedom
The resolution carried Rabbi Henry
Barnstein was reelected for a term of
three years at an increased salary Mr
Henry J Dannenbaum president of
the congregation then read his mes
sage It is an interesting document
and the recommendations suggested
were adopted and referred to the
board of directors The following of
