James Pike, a prominent Pedro creek operator, arrived in Fairbanks recently with a cleanup of 120,000. and announced that it was the last clean up he would make this season. High prices of supplies makes mining of low grace ground unprofitable Mr. M .Pike stated, and he would quit min ing until prices reached a lower level. The ground he has been working av eraged about 31 cents, and under nor mal conditions and the economical methods Of working ebployed should -•ieid a handsome profit.
