FRIDAY, JULY 11 1941 Youthful Group Comb Town On “Rummage Hunt” Jennie Lee Foy and Joyce Ellis were co-hostesses at the home of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. j Hob Foy, Monday night, to a youthful group who spent the eve ning combing the town on a “Rum- j mage Hunt.” Guests were divided into groups | of four and each was given a list of 13 articles which must be found j somewhere in town and brought in. Sailor Is Honored At Farewell Dinner A farewell dinner for John Mayo was given by his mother Mrs. J. W. Hogue Friday evening. Alexander gave a swim par ty for Caroline’s young friends at Vah-Ki Inn pool, Saturday, follow ed by a lawn supper at her home. Guests were Jackie lies, Mary Lou Gardner, Joann Newcomb, Lewis and Rayma Lew Nebb of Ternpe, Katherine Wyllys of Tem pe, and their mothers, Mrs. L. S. Nebb, Mrs. R. K. Wyllys and Mrs. Charles Waterhouse, all of Tempe. Bridge Classes Because of the extreme heat, bridge classes being instructed by Mrs. A. L. Nowell will meet but once weekly, on Monday after noons at 2 p. m. in her home. Classes include instruction for more experienced players as well as beginners. Fourteen are enroll ed. Mrs. Leon Smith and Mrs. Phil Claridge assist as instructors. o LOCAL HAPPENINGS • Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hines were in Phoenix on business, Sunday. • Mrs. C. J. Moody’s night bloom ing cereus blossomed for the first time Sunday night, when neigh bors and friends came in to see the ivory-white desert flower that dies with the morning. • Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Nowell and daughter Nancy visited Mr., and Mrs. H. J. Coffin 'at Inspiration from Friday to Sunday. • Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Wells return ed from a two weeks trip to Los Angeles, California, Saturday, where Mrs. Wells visited her son John D. More, and friends, while Mr. Wells transacted business. # Mrs. L. G. Haby left Monday night for Los Angeles, California, to be with her three year old granddaughter Caroline Kent, who is seriously ill in a hospital there.
