A Mexican ntul a white man gut into adispute Tuesday morning on Railroad avcuite and immediately adjourned to a vacant lot south of the tracks to settle the difficulty in tho old-fashioned John L. Sullivan style. The fight was a brutal one and resulted in one of the combatants having his bead iu gloriously smashed and pounded be neath the bootheal of the victor. Several parties noticing the combat from up town jumped into a sleigh hitched nearby and drove with all speed to the scene of the deadly com liut. By the lime of their arrival, however, the murderous individual who was stamping the life out of his antagonist had desisted and made a hasty departure for another part of town. The injured Mexican, eutirely senseless and uucouscious from bonze and blows, was loaded ou the sleigh and brought up town. An examina tion by Drs. Brannnn and Cornish re vealed the man to be in a serious con dition, and be was taken to the County Hospital. He has a wife and family living near tbe bottling works, but was not brought home, in the bloody and repulsive shape he was in, owing to his wife beiug in a delicate condi tion. Al Tuesday's session to jury list for 18U7, prepared by Recorder Pulliam, was approved. The county lot was sold at puhlis auction January 12th to Mayor J. W. Francis, agent for the Town of Flag staff, for $160. The sale was ap proved. . M. Doe was granted $200 with which to defray the expenses of the suit of Coconino county against Yavapai.
