Deming Headlight. The grand jury of Yavapai county, last week, found an iudict ment for malicious libel against J. C. Martin, editor of Mio Journal Miner. Meyer Zuli'-k. subject n.t ,111-M.Rliivd. Death of John A. 1 onu. Washington, Dec. 27. General John A. Logan died at three minu tes before 3 o'clock this afternoon, Cf inflaniatory rheumatism.' His death, which came with startling suddenness to his family and friends, had not beon unexpected by his physicians for some days. The lurking tendency to brain complications which had been present in greater or less degrees, and constantly increasing in sever ty during his entire illness, had prepared them to expect the worse. The racking pains which he suf fered during tho early days of his illness, yielded to treatment, but lift Lim in a weak and exhausted condition from which he never ral lied, and upon which tho fovtr preyed with increasing violence until the hour of his death. After last midnight his pulse grew weak er and weaker, aud at 4 o'clock this morning his condition was such as to cause great fear of his immediate) death. After this he rallied somewhat and at tho con sultation which was held at 9 o'clock . this morning, his . pulse was found to be some what strong er, but his general condition was nor such as to give any hope of ultimate recovery. The physicians Rgain met in consultation at 1:30 p. m , when it was apparent tho patient was rapidly sinking and conld live but a few hours. At 2 o'clock the generat revived snfii cicntly to recoguize his wife who has been at Lis bedside night aud day during his entire illness. As she spoke to him, ho looked up into her face, and all who were present knew that ho recognized her. This wa5 the last manifestat ion of consciousness, lie then wearily closed his eyes aud sank again into a lethargic sleep from which ho never ifXvoko. Assistant Surgeon W. B. Banis ter has been relieved from duty at Fort Wingate, New Mexico, aud ordered lo relieve acting assistant surgeon L N.
