THE CLIFTON CLARION. The Leading Mercantile House of the Southwest.- -"fUU- WEIGHT omeroy s me. fe- pi WEDNESDAY, SEIT. 28, 1887. Stage URE -sfl About Silver. The richest silver mine in the world is Fotosi. Silver was extremely abundant in ancient times. Total production of silver in Nevada, 1353,000,000. Annual silver production of North America, 585,000,000. The yearly product of the mines of Africa is estimated to be o,C00. Silver, as regards its miues, is represented in every portion of our planet Asia (including Australia, New Zealand and Oceanica) produces ?1,950,000 a year. The export of silver from the United States since iS4S has amounted to ?151,74C,771. The annual product of the sil ver mines of South America is estimated to be 26,000,000. Silver mines in Europe yield annually $13,000,000, and their total product has amounted to $13,628,000,000. The highest silver deposit in the world is on King Solomon's mountain, in Colorado, 14,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Tho largest nugget of silver yet obtained was dug up in Arizona and weighed 43,200 ounces, valued at the same number of dollars. The silver mines of Mexico were worked loDg before Cortez revealed them to the eyes of Europe in 1513. Too product per year at the present time is esti mated to be $32,000,000. Charles Lyell, the eminent geo logist, says that the interior of Mexico is the richest known ar gentiferous section in the world, The fact was long ago established that a raetaliferous vein runs with out interruption through the en tire length of the Cordillera of Anahuac, extending from the Sierra Madre in Sonora, near the northern border, to the gold de posits of Oaxaca, in the extreme south of Mexico. This exhaustive vein traverses no less than seven teen States, and since the day of its discovery it mineral yield has been more than $4,000,000,000 worth. And yet these valuable sources of wealth are estimated to be cot more than one per cent of the undeveloped and undiscovered whole. . GEO. LAXPHER, Harnessmaker and Saddler, SOLOMONVILLE.
