Carrier pigeons have flown at
the rate of 111 miles an hour, for
seven hoars.
The shock of the Granada earth
quake in 18S4 traveled at the rate
of 1,800 miles an hoar.
There has been an interesting
discussion among railroad men,
both in San Francisco and in the
East, as to which were the three
or four heaviest locomotives built
in this country. A very promi

It is used to haul freight through
Kicking Horse pass, in the Rocky
mountains. The Southern Pacific
