She will be away approximately six weeks, Mrs, Listianna Moreno, who underwent surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital, is again back on the job and filling in for Mrs, Throssell until her return. Julian Encinas, from Chow Hang, who was badly burned last year and who spent much time here at the Tucson Medical Center, then transferred to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, -for more hospi talization, has been returned to our . hospital. Mrs. Allen flew to Salt Lake City to pick him and others up and bring them back to Arizona, Julian is doing fine.- > He had forgotten how to speak Papago, but he speaks and understands English well and seems a happy, well ad justed youngster. Soon after he returned a group of nurses from Tucson Medical . : Center came to see him and were so happy to see him well along on the road of re covery, * A combined Valentine and shower party were given by the.employees for Mrs Allen ai>d Mr* Fred Schmidt on their re cent marriages. Bertha Is working under the Branch of Ad ministration as a clerk-typist, 1 .. Phil Premy and Alex Mag talon trans ferred to Bylas, Arizona, March 1, 1958, Both of these teschers had served at Vaya Chin Pay School'-for several years, A Pot Luck dinner was given in'their honor Monday evening, February 24th at Vaya Chin, a large gathering, composed of agency personnel and Indian families in the area, came to the supper.* Friends of Mr. Mag talon were glad to hear the. ami no uncement of his recent marriage and to meet his lovely bride. Several individual Papagos expressed their sadness in losing their fine friends but also look forward to the arrival of Mr. and Mrs, Charles Ridgway. Mr. and Mrs. Kidgway are not new to..our reservation; they were pre viously stationed-at Chuichu for many years, . A surprise baby shower for Mrs, Toni Castrillo was held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Thomas on February 27 f 1953, Hos tesses were Mrs. Caroline Huddleston and Mrs. Thomas. After the presents were viewed by all the guests, refreshments were, served. 4 4-H FAIR The Pima County 4-H Fair will be held the 28th of March this year* This date is one month earlier than last year. All parents of 4-H boys and girls are urged to not forget this date and be there in order to give their support to the children. We do not have all details cf the fair at this time, other than the date. Mr, Barry Freeman, county 4-H leader, will be in Sells on Thursday, March 6th, to check the calves and othep 4-H work prior to the Fair. The calves, in'general, are better than last year, but are not as well fin ished as we had hoped. If we can make im provement each year, it. won’t be long un til we will be giving the rest .of. the county some stiff, competition. ! e are pleased with the interest that the boys have taken this year in.-their calves. One boy had the misfortune to have his calf get loose twice this year for several weeks,* which has caused the calf to lose the weight that he had put on. Another year we are sure he will try harder to keep his calf up all year. We will haVe a report in our next issue of the paper about the results of the Fair, And don't forget that the date of the' Fair is March 28th.’ SMO.C. CHIEF ‘TO MAKE TRIP William L, Hill, post supervisor for the reservation Ground Cbservor Corps,, has been selected by the Mi r Feme to at tend a two-week Ground Cbservor Corps in structor Course from March 17 to 28th at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, He will leave Sells March 14th to fly to Panama City. The Ground Observor Corps for the reservation was organized Dec. 1, 1955. At that time Mr. Hill was named post super visor. He has served the area faithfully in the maintenance of its equipment, in conducting 1 its training sessions and in his liaison with the Tucson Filter Center, This area is justifiably proud Mr, Hill was chosen. He will attend the In structor Course at Tyndall Air Force Base with Ground Cbservor Corps volunteers from all parts of the United States, "Twenty-Four Hour Alert" will be the film shown by Sgt, Rogers of the Tucson Filter Center on March 12 at 7:30 p,in, in the school dining room for all members of the Ground Observer Corps, All G.O.C.s are urged to be present. "Standby-Alert will be explained followed by a question and answer period. Refreshments will be served.
