Elando was living in Sahuarito and working at Bull’s Ranch. He is said to have been on the wrong side of the road after midnight when the accident occured. -x- -x x- Fireworks at 4 a.m. on Dec. 2 opened the annual celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Xavier at the San Xavier reservation. Large numbers of townspeople joined in the celebra tion in the evenings of Dec. 2 and 3. x- * x Lolita Manuel, Sells, is in need of a number of well made plaques, about the size of a sil ver dollar, to be used in making bolo ties. The plaques should be of black-and-white basket materials and of good design. w Linda Simon, niece of the Rev. Rodger Cree, is spending the winter in Sells and attending Indian Oasis school where is an Bth grader. The visitor is a Mohawk from Ika, Quebec pro vince,':/ Canada. 7C a Maria Francesca Murrietta-Ramirez, who claims to have Papago blood, has asked that her de portation be postponed another month. The U.S. immigration service has asked her to leave the country and return to Mexico. *x x x Two carloads of women from the First Presbyterian church of Casa Grande were reservation visitors on Nov. 7 with Mrs. Archie Richardson as hostess. The group visited Sells and Topawa. Boy Scout dancers performed at St. Anthony’s school. Among the visitors was the Mother of the Year for Arizona, Flossie Barmec. The women were conducted through the Presbyterian church at Sells by the Rev. Gordon Thompson. x- x x Steven Listo, Santa Rosa resident and former tribal councilman from Gu Achi district, is in the Sells Indian hospital„ # # % The Rev. and Mrs. Gordon M. Thompson of the Presbyterian Church are on vacation. They ex pect to return to Sells in mid-December. w u w 7c sc -)r No date has yet been set for the formal dedication of the new post office building in Sells. Boxes are said to be on the way. The interior of the building is 1269 square feet with an outisde area of 4700 feet for parking space. A stop sign has already been erected to control traffic from the building to main street. Several tourists turve already tried to mail let ters at the new structure. # Revival services are being held at the Assembly of God church in Sells during the week of Dec. 1-8. The Rev. Jerry Russell of Sedona is the visiting speaker. This is his first visit to Sells. x- x- x Bernard Havier, who was taken by helicopter to Tucson for medical attention early in the summer after falling from a truck near his home in Topawa, was visited by Gen. Pokylea from Ft. Huachuca when the latter was on the reservation on Nov. 12. The military leader and his companions were escorted by Tribal Chairman Eugene J. Johnson and BIA officials. x x x Matters of mutual concern about the proposed dam on Vamori wash were discussed at a joint meeting of Chukut Kuk and district councilmen on Nov. 20. x x x Girl Scouts from reservation troops have been invited to attend the dedication ceremonies of Hacienda de Sahuaro on the Sabino Canyon road on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. 13
