EOY SCOUTS OF 7 TROOPS TAKE PiiRT IN RALLY | AT SELLS WITH COUNCIL LEADERS aS SPEAKERS i/ith more than 100 Boy Scouts from seven troops participating, the Round-Up and Rally were held at Sells on Nov, 23= Approximately 200 parents and friends attended. After the dinner served by women of the Parish Club, there was a para.de of Scout units, pre ceeded by a color guard with flags draped in black out of respect to the late President John F. Kennedy. Competitive events made up the second half of the program. Awards in the stretcher ra.ce went to Troop 225, Topawa; Troop 141? Pisinemo; Troop 130, Santa Rosa; and Troop 37, Ajo. Awards in the string burning event went to Troop 136, Covered Wells; * Troop 141> Troop 378, Ajo. In the lashing contest, places were taken by Troop 136; Troop 225; and Troop 69, Sells. Honor unit banners for getting at least five additional recruits per troop were presented to Troop 37; Troop 130, Santa Rosa; Troop 136; and Troop 141. Troop 255 members presented Indian dancers. « The international 1964 Scout jubilee will be held in Valley Forge, Pa., in July. Organ Pipe council, of which the reservation Scouts are a part, is urged by Catalina Council to send one or more boys to the event. To date, this is the only one which has not made arrangements. The Gatalina council is limited to 74 youths, and 60 have already registered to attend. The program was arranged by Fr. Niles; Agency Su.pt. Thomas H. St. Clair gave the welcome; Dr. Jack Klein, president of Catalina Council, spoke; and Don McDougal, Chief Executive Offi cer of the council, talked of the coming jubilee. # # if Jonah Moffatt, 45-year-old Pima, was killed in a Thanksgiving night one-car accident when his car ran off the road, according to Sacaton police. if if if "There is a higher rate of unemployment among American Indians than in any other minority group in the country, :i said a BIA representative at the President's Committee on Equal Em ployment Opportunity. He made the comment after Elizabeth Estrada, Arts-and-Crafts Chairman 4 for the Papago Tribe, spoke in behalf of job and training opportunities for American Indians. The 5-state meeting was held in Los Angeles on Nov. 14.
