PROCEEDINGS, OF The Board of Supervisors -OF- XAVAJO CorXTY. Dae-. 30. 189S. Holbrook. Ariz 10 a. m. The Board of Suporviosrs met this ilay at 10 a. in. Ail members present. The report of the tax collector for the quarter e ud i ug December 31, 1SUS, was examined, found correct and approved. The clerk of the board is hereby directed to write to the Board of Supervisors of Apache county and ascertain the amount due this coun t3' from payment of tases ou tax pale deeds sent to this county for collection, also per rata of ?52 paid to J. F. Wilson December 2, 1897, also other credits of this county as mentioned in letter of John T. Hague to this board uuder date of February 5, 1898. Adjourned uutil 2 p. m. 2 p. m. The board met as per adjourn-! ment, all members present. y The minutes of yesterday and this j a. m. were then read and approved. Watt ron is hereby granted i popular teacher, Miss The entertainment commenced at half past six and lasted until after nine, after which the presents were taken from the haudsome Christmas tree by Mrs. Santa Claus and a few others, who were appointed to help her. Afterwards the tree was taken away and dancing commenced. Nearly every one stayed and triped the light fantastic until 4 o'clock. The hall wns filled to oveflowing and every one seemed to enjoy both the dance and entertainment. On the evening of the 27th some of the boys aud girls went out sleigh riding and when on the hill near Woodland the sleigh turned over injuring several. Those that were injured the most are Miss Clara Hall and Miss Rsndy Savage. Many thought Miss Hall's injuries were serious for a while aud Dr. Woolford was called in, but we are pleased to say that she will soon be out again. Penrod Bros, gave a dance at the hall ou the 28th for some of their friends from Taylor who arrived late in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hansen gave a birthday party at their home on the 31st in honor of Miss Effie Ellsworth, Mrs. Hansen's sis ter. Supper was served at six, after which the young folks enjoyed themselves by dancing. Every one seemed to have had a good time and wished Miss Ellsworth many happy returns. Penrod Bros, gave a grand ball at their hall on January 2nd as the eel bra t ion of 1899. Mr. F. Moe has returned from Cuba where he went some ti'r.e ago as a packer. Mr. C. Benson, who was formerly stationed at Fort Apache and who went to Huntsville, Ala., returned a few days ago. He got a discharge on account of being sick and unable to perform his duties. Ll'THT.
