Heider, of Los Angeles, to Miss Anna L. Garvin of St. Joseph. About 130 tourists are visiting the petrified forest from Adam ana today. A number of teams went from St. . Joseph to help take the party out. Miss Anna Richards, Miss Lot tie Allen, Elmer Richards1 and Louis Garvin passed through here yesterday on their way to Snowrlake to attend a dance. We were in error last week when 'we stated that Miss Mc- Guy would be the superintendent of the Whiteriver school. . She will be field matron.. On St. Patrick's (March 17th) day, in the evening, there will be g n a grand ball at the couit house in ilolbrook. Everybody is invited to attend and those who attend on this occasion will be given free admittance to the ball to be given in the future at this place. Preston, of the United States Geodetic Survey, was here two days this week oberving the variations, dip and horizontal intensity of the magnetic needle. Mr. Preston has made likeobscr vations all over Arizona. It is the intention of the government to establish a magnetic station in Arizona, either at Phoenix or I'l igstaff. These places have been tested, but it is not known yet which will be chosen. Mr. Preston left today for Navajo Springs,. Mr. (anies 0 Br'en, who has held the position As government operator here for nearly two yi-ios, and has been in the signal service t: quarter of a century, will leave sometime next Week lor San Francisco. From, there he will sail April 1st for Manila and will then be assigned to some station on the. island of Luzon, where he will remain for two years, providing his health will permit him to do so. We ore indeed very sorry to see Mr. O'lhien leave and he has a host of friends here who wish him success at his new post of duty. W. P.
