HOLBROOK ARGUS L. D. DIVELIEaS...I,Joi'KiHTOR L. C. IIBNN1N0 Manager j Official Paper of Navajo County. Entered uf the HoNtnlHee n Holhrook. Arl stoiiu, im Sei'cinil (JIum Mail Mutter. i Jf-V'i!ilri"H all eoimniiiiicutiona and make nil liillH puyulile to The Ai kiih. SUBSCRIPTION RATES i ONIYIAR $2.00 IN ADVANC1. THE A. C. M. I. In another column of this is sue appe.'irs the amended articles of incorporation of the Arizona Co-operative Mercantile Institu tion, which, in reality, is a con solidation of the Arizona Co-operative Mercantile Institution, of Holhrook, and the Co-operative Mercantile and Manufactur ing Institution, of Saint Johns, and consists of four general stores, located at Holhrook, St. Johns, Snovvflake and Springer ville, two flouring mills, one at Shumway and the other at St. Johns, and large stock interests in Apache and Navajo counties. This company, which has a paid up capital of one hundred thousand dollars and a surplus often thousand dollars, is one of the largest of its class in the territory. The company is owned and controlled by residents of Apa che and Navajo counties and when you patronize it you are helping a home industry. The object of this consolidation was to put the company in a posi tion where it could secure staple goods in large quantities and at a reduced price, which means a saving of many thousands of dollars annually to .both the company and the consumer. J. K.' Hulet will be general superintendent of the new com pany as well as manager of the main establishment at Holhrook. Mr. Hulet has been connected with the A. C. M. 1. from its beginning, some twenty years ago, and under his management' it grew from a small store to one of the largest and strongest es tablishments in the territory. The St. Johns branch will be managed by J. T. Lesueur, who was one of the founders and foremost promoters of the CM. & M..I. Had it not been for Mr. Lesueur's business ability such a thriving business would have never been built. The Snowflake and Springer ville branches are managed bv J. A. Freeman and F. Lesu eur, respectively. These gentle men are thorough business men and are well known in the com munities. The officers and directors of the company are well known throughout the two counties and are among the heaviest tax-payers. The new company .will, no doubt, prosper under its present management and do an exten sive business in Navajo and Apache counties. Sheep Grazing'. Telegraphic orders have been received by Forest Supervisor Breen, from the Department, in structing him to take prompt action in sheep trespass cases. It was currently reported that a number of sheepmen intended taking their sheep "onto the Black Mesa Forest Reserve, in spite of the fact that they were not granted permits. ' " ' 1 Prosecutions will undoubtedly be made in every case, but on a different line from the recent cases,' which, some sheepmen have erroneously concluded, left the government without means of enforcing the law.
