LOCALand PERSONAL Sig. Sergeant Fred Mueller re turned to Cooley's ranch Sunday. Frank Wallace spent Sunday here. Henry Kempenich arrived home Tuesday. G. K. Bauerback came up on horse back from Winslow today. John Lundquist, of Snowflake, was a visitor here yesterday. Barney Stiles is visiting at the county seat today. A. F. McAllister boarded No. 7 today for Winslow. O. L. Hathorn is in Irom his trading post at Indian Wells. J. X. Woodseameup from Win- slow Tuesday to make final proof on his homestead near that city. Hon. B. A. Fowler was a pas senger on No. 7 today enroute to Phoenix, from Washington, D. C. W. B. Campbell, of Winslow, was a business visitor at the county seat Thursday. Mrs.K.C. Smith and Miss Cora Maupin are visiting friends and relatives at Snowflake. Miss Maggie Jervis is visiting with her sister Mrs. J. L. Clark, in Winslow. A L. Gravely arrived here Thursday evening from a trip in the southern end of the county. James Seward, the veteran In dian trader was here after sup plies yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. . F. Woods boarded No. 8 Tuesday for Albu querque to visit with friends. Robt. Gleason arrived here yes terday from Flagstaff, to receive a herd of Long II cattle for Bab bitt Bros. Ben Schuster arrived here last Saturday night. J. C. Lathrop took him out to St. Johns, via Snowflake. Capt. Henry Warren was an arrival on No. 1 Thursday morn ing. Mr. Warren intends remain ing in this section during the coming summer. Chas Babbitt was here Sunday to receive a herd of cattle from A. L Truax. They shipped two car loads to Flagstaff. H. Knight was to deliver another bunch at , Babbitt tanks, but on account of high water he returned here and is shipping today Lee Smith, a sixteen year old boy, who was in jail here await ing the action of the grand jury, i on two charges, horse stealing and house breaking escaped from jailer Divelbess at 8 o'clock Tues dar evening, from here he walk ed to St. Joseph where he stole a horse and rode to Winslow. there he got another horse, and at the present writing nothing 'further has been heard ot him. Lent commences next Wednes day. March 8th. President Roosevelt's inaugur ation takes place today. Senobio Santestevan of Silver Creek is a business visitor here today. Bernard Schuster, manager ot the Schuster Mercantile Co., at Concho, arrived here yesterday from El Paso. He left this after noon for Snowflake. A Sudden Death. Robt. F. MacLachlan, M. D., of Albuquerque, died of a hemor age at the Clark House this mor ning at about 9 o'clock. Mr. MacLachlan was in the employ of the Equitable Life As surance Society and was to ac company Bernard Schuster out in the country to examine appli cants for insurance. He . had ex amined one applicant this morn ing, and appeared to be in the best of spirits, whep he was seiz ed with a violent cough, he got out of the buggy, pulled off his overcoat and staggered into the office, sat down and pulled up a cuspidor and the blood began to flow. Mes-srs. Clark and Schus ter followed him in and asked if they could do something for him, he replied, "I am dying, notify the Masonic Lodge." The ma sons took charge of the remains and have notified his relatives, also the A. F. & A. M. Lodge, at Cooperstown, N. D., of which he was a number.
