fare repairing the Boyle residence
for Mr. T. Larson.
Mrs. M. C. Rowe arrived here
from Butte, Mont. Tuesday on
her war to Woodruff to visit her
tnother Mrs.1 Medora Gardner.
; Chas Byrant came down from
Taylor Thursday and went to
Navajo to purchase a car of fat
steers for Babbitt Bros.
The Senate has made a second
appropriation of $1,500,000 for
the relief of the California earth
quake sufferers. "
The supervisors of Maricopa
county have voted $5,000 for
the relief of the San Francisco
sufferers.
. . The Ladies Aid Society will
serve ice cream at the Zuck resi
dence next Friday between the
hours of 2 and 9 p. m.
Ben Burk who has been in the
employ of the government at Ft.
Douglass, Utah, has resigned his
position and is holding fourth
on His old stamping ground.
Several train loads of provi
sions and supplies for the San
Francisco sufferers have passed
through here during the past
week.
Ed Howell and sister Mrs. R.
R. Smith came down from Nava
jo Thursday to do some shop
ping. They returned home that
evening. . -
. Several loads of baggage be
longing to troop I Fifth cavalry
came in grom Ft. Apache this
week and were sent to Ft. Win
gate whither the troop is march
ing overland.
', E. T. Hatch was down from
Taylor Thursday and loaded
freight for the post, before leav
ing Mr. Hatch called and asked
to have the Argus sent to hi?
address.
. Mr. and Mrs. K. M. Jackson
and Miss Whittemore arrived
here from San Francisco Wed
nesday evening. Mrs. Jackson
and Miss Whitemore went out
to Show Low Thursday and
Mr. Jackson departed for the
east.
Every City, town, hamlet and
neighboorhood in this great
' country will boast of having
contributed something to the
Sail, Francisco . district. Hoi
brook cannot afford to fall by
the wayside on this mission of
mercy. It may be late but see
that your heart is in the right
place.
A card received from . Fred
Wetzler at San Francisco says he
was entirely burned out but es
caped personal injury, he states
that the papers give but mild ac
counts of the fire.
Ignacio Bazan came in from
Cortez Tuesday on his way to
Show Low. He reports excel
lent range in that section, and
says the lambing season is over,
some of the sheepmen report 150
per cent increase in their herds,
the lowest he heard ot was 120
percent. ,
C. E. Whittemore came down
from Show Low Tuesday to go
to San Francisco and look up his
folks who were stopping at the
Palace hotel when the city was
in the grasp of the earthquake.
Upon his arrival here he received
a card from Mr. Jackson that
they had left the city and were
on their way home. Mr. Whit
temore was greatly relieved by
the welcome news and departed
for Show Low Wednesday to
look after his flocks which are
now lambing.
