President Taylor's Visit.
In the address to the 'saints' the
reason which is ascribed for Presi
dent Taylor's late visit to Arizona
is that he went there "to visit with
arid, so far as possible, comfort the
saints." Is this quitcthe whole
truth? Is it not true that he and

if possible, of founding a colony be

k Tlic Bnffalo Gnat.
For many years past one of the
greatest pests the stock raiser of the
West has had to contend with has
been the "buffalo gnat," 'This inf
sect is a small fly, closely related to
the well known "black'fly" of the
Northwestern woods. At certain
seasons it swarms in immense num
bers, and by its poisonous bite,
multiplied a thousand-fold, causes
great destruction amon& sheep, cat-
tle. hogs, poultry, horses and mules,
General Wolseley, who is now
trying to crawfish out of the Sou
dan, is a snob who once thought to
belittle General Grant, the soldier,
by referring to him as Mr. Grant.

every point of view rise above
Wolseley with all the titles his coun
try could confer, as rises the moun
tain above the little hillock of the
