Madison, Fla., Aug. 8, 1908. Tbe Board of County Commis sioners met this day with all mem bers presett. - Board was called to order by the chairman and reading of minutes was dispensed with. This meeting being held for ike purpose of bearing' complaints from persons being dissatisfied with the assessed valuation of tbeir property for taxes. Tbe assessor piesenUd the tax books for 1908 as made out by bitn for inspection and compar ison byt be board. Tbe assessor pre sented a certified copy of a reoora mendation to the Comptroller sign ed by ths chaiimao of this board purporting to be the action of the whole board in session, recommend ing that a reduction of 1500 per mile ho made !n the. assessment for taxes of the Sjuth Georgia and I West Coast Railroad, be made by the Comptroller, ondupon consid eration therto.' upon motion it was o:d-n;d thHl the clcik Of the iioaid communicate with the Comptroller and inform bint that no members of the board coucuired with the chair man In making said recommendation (the matier not having been brought before the Board in session) and re spectfully recommend and ask the Comptroller not to make said reduc tion but to assess said railroad for this year at tbe same rite or' valua-r tion as last j'eai . . .
