Petition to have Henrietta Cato put on the pauper list was on mo tion granted at $2 per month from March 1st. On motion Henry Sapp, pauper, was dropped from list. Petition to establish publio road on direct line from Capt. Peek's old place to Lee, on motion not grant, ed. The several petitions to bave this county join in with Hamilton coun ty and build a new steel bridge over the 'Withlacooehe river at some con venient point between Blue Spring and Bellville, was taken up and con sidered again to-day, and after due consideration of the necessity and location of said bridge it was unani mously agreed that the building of said bridge would be of substantial and lasting benefit to both Madison and Hamilton counties. It was therefore agreed that this board join with Hamilton county in the build ing of said bridge across the said Withlacooehe river at the place known as the lIerndor Fish Trap, and K. C- Walcott, representing the Converse Bridge Co., presented plans and specifications for said bridge which was accepted by this board, as was also the price named to build said bridge, viz: t4400 complete with abutments. Where, upon the board entered into a writ ten contract with the Converse Bridge Co. to build said bridge for the wiim of 12200 for Madison Coun ty's half of same, of which amount $1000 is to be piid upon the deliv ery on the ground of the material, the balance at the pleasure of the Board with 8 per cent, interest ' per annum on all deferred payments, if any. Notarial bond of W. J. Jirvis for $500 was on motion approved. Judge E. J. Vaon, managing trus tee of Madison county bonds, came before the board and stated that he had on hand sufficient funds to take up two $500 bonds, and requested that the board draw two bonds of said denomination for payment, ffbeieupon Bonds Kos. 95 and 124 for t500 each were drawn and call ed in for payment. Full Board present; minutes of last meeting were read and approved. A committee of citizens from Greenville appeared before the Board and asked for a new building large enough to accommodate ali their Deeds. On motion same was granted. Permission was .granted to the pa trons of Hillside school to move the school-house to Pine Grove Church if there is no objection by the next meeting; provided, tbe Board is put to no expense for said move. Prof. Cato was granted permission to conduct a Summer Normal in tbe High School building. Terms of Schools and Salaries of teachers were fixed for the ensuing year. Settlement was had with treasur. er and all bills paid. Board then adjourned to meet in called session on Tuesday, April 20 th to consider a proposition from tl e town in regard to new buildiogs and dormitories for the Normal School W, J. By a decisive majority, the citi zens of Perry decided in the bond election Tuesday that they believed in publio improvements; that they had faith in the futur? of t'ie town anil that tbey were wiliing to lend a band in building here one of the fore most inland cities of the State. Though a small yote was cast, many failing to qualify, intense interest was manifest in tbe result of the proposition to bond for f 30,000, H5 000 for sewerage and 115,000 street improvement. The vote, for fl5, for sewerage was 36 to 7 against, and the vote for f 15,000 for street im provements was 30 to 10 against.
