There are, 160 horticultural nurser- trees. v , MARION LAWRENCE TO ATTEND 8TATE 8UNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION " i The Florida State Sunday School Convention, which meets at Orlando April 2, 3, and 4, will be attended by Marion Lawrence, of Chicago, Gener al 'Secretary of the International Sun day School Association, according to announcement made by State Gener al Secretary, J. O. Webb, of Jack sonville. General 'Secretary Lawrence is con sidered by many to be the leading Sunday School worker of the world today. In addition to an extensive experience as Sunday School teach er and superintendent he has been for fifteen years General Secretary of the' International Sunday ' School Association and for five years Joint General Secretary of the world Sun day School Association. In this ca pacity he has been in constant touch with progressive Sunday School work in1 all denominations and in all countries of the world. lie "has also written several books on modern Sunday. School work Including "How to Conduct a Sunday School," "The Sunday School Organized for Ser vice" and "Special Days in the Sun day School". Each of these is said to be the recognized Masterpiece In It's line. , ' Marion Lawrence was a business man In Toledo, Ohio, from 1837 to 1889, with fine prospects before him in the business world. The last business in which he engaged was that ot fire insurance, and this he sold to engage in the "Soul Insur ance" and "Character Conservation" business as conducted by the Ohio Sunday School Association. He lost money by the change, but found his life work. He might have become an authori ty on the subject of fire insurance. His change of business, however, for a position of apparently lesser ' Im portance and possibilities has to developed his capabilities that he is now a recognized authority on all matters pertaining to the Sunday School. "Ask Marion Lawrence" means as much to Sunday School ex perts as reference to decisions of tho United States Supreme Court means to the keen minded man In the legal profession. ; ' Forty years Is the length of time Mr. Lawrence has been active in Sun day School work. He started as a teacher in the Washington Street Congregational Sunday School in To ledo, Ohio. Three years later, in 1876, he became superintendent of the Sunday School and held the po sition for thirty-one years, until his removal to Chicago in 1907. The Sunday School which he served .bo long and faithfully Is known as the "Marlon Lawrence Sunday School", and has an enrollment of two thous and members. It has become the pattern for Sunday Schools the world over, for efficiency. The main char acteristics of the school are do scribed in the book by Mr. Lawrence on "How , to Conduct a Sunday School." ; v During the State Convention Mr. Lawrence will speak several times on practical Sunday School subjects. He will also conduct a daily question box for Sunday School superinten dents and workers. NEW INCOME TAX BLANKS FOR 1918 NOW READY Income tax return blanks. The blanks this year are stamped with the name and ad dress of the taxpayer and are ar ranged with a duplicate of the return attached' to the original,' which dupli cate is to be detached by the ' tax payer and kept as a record of his re turn. The duplicate sheet contains full Instructions and should be care fully read by every individual under taking to make out his return. There has been mailed to all tax payers who filed returns last year one of these blanks with his name and Serial Number ' stamped thereon which should be received , In the course of the next two or three days. Collector of Internal Revenue James M. Cathcart says that all blanks should be in the hands of the taxpayers within, one week and that If by that time the official blank with the name of the taxpayer on, has not been received, he should inquire for blanks either at the Collector's office at Jacksonvile or at the nearest cen - ter of distribution throughout the state where Deputy Collectors will be located, as follows: Tampa, Miami, Key West, Daytona, Gainesville, Tal lahassee, Pensacola, or General Of fice, Jacksonville, Florida. All re turns have to be' filed by March 16th accompanied by a least twenty-five per cent of the tax. , Vladivostok, Feb. 18. A Red Cross train carrying more than 10,000 com fort bags for American soldiers along the. Trans-Siberian and Ussurl rail ways has been sent from Vladivostok. Each soldier will receive two, bags, one packed by the Red Cross in Vlad ivostok and one which arrived re cently from the United States by transport.
